This past week, firefighters Mitchell Maselli and Jamieson Williams travelled to Connecticut to attend the National Honor Guard Academy. They spent 50 hours elevating their ceremonial knowledge and skill level of participating in a public safety honor guard. This reinforces a sense of pride and compassion within themselves and in the department by upholding honor guard traditions with precise attention to detail.

Local 1781 would like to welcome our newest firefighter William Wellspeak to the North Adams FD!

Wellspeak was sworn in at the mayor’s office today and will work at the station until academy in the summer.

Department members and retirees gathered to celebrate the retirement of Firefighter Stefan Lamarre and presented him with a plaque from Local 1781! Thank you Stefan for your 29 years with the department and the union! Enjoy your long and healthy retirement! We will miss working with you!

Each year the NAFD Local 1781 purchases Thanksgiving meals and gives a monetary donation to some of our city’s most dedicated organizations.

This year we are proud to support the Have Hope Peer Recovery Center, the Salvation Army, and the Al Nelson Friendship Center Food Pantry.

We truly appreciate the work that they do each and every year.

A huge shoutout to the City of North Adams Public Safety Business Manager who secured the Strong Communities Grant to add all the fixings to our turkey deliveries!
