Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Educational Service Agency Serving Montco, PA School Districts and Eligible Nonpublic Schools

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit strives to be the first choice of school districts and schools when seeking educational resources and services. The MCIU offers more than 200 instructional and administrative programs and services to Montgomery County’s 22 public school districts, the 4 career-technical schools and more than 130 eligible nonpublic schools in Montgomery County. Our services are designed to be valued, cost effective, result-oriented and delivered by staff who are leaders in their respective fields. The MCIU is the regional hub for the facilitation and provision of collaborative, stimulating, and learner-centered partnerships and services. The MCIU’s page is meant to be another source of information to the community, as well as a place for the intermediate unit to engage with its stakeholders. We welcome the opportunity to hear from you and encourage your participation. At the same time, we would like to establish some rules for engagement. We expect that the people who use our pages exercise civility and common sense when posting comments to our pages. Please remember that your comments can be viewed by many people in our community and are considered to be in the public domain. While the MCIU does not want to censor the opinions or comments of its community members, certain types of comments will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to delete posts that:
• Are vulgar or profane;
• Contain personal attacks or accusations;
• Could be offensive to or target specific ethnic or racial groups;
• Incite violence;
• Encourage others to break the law;
• Could be considered campaigning for a political office;
• Easily identify students and/or staff in defamatory, abusive or generally negative terms;
• Promote services or products; or
• Are rude or deride the opinions of others. Thank you for observing the rules of engagement and we welcome your participation and feedback. If you have any questions or concerns about the district’s page, please email Rebecca Coyle at [email protected] or call 610-755-9484.

The Transition team at the Discovery Center welcomed back program alumnus Connor for a conversation with current students about life after the Transition Program!

Now attending Montgomery County Community College, Connor shared his experiences adjusting to college life, how he applied what he learned in the program, and the importance of self-advocacy in postsecondary success. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions about navigating life after the program.

As he continues his education, Connor plans to further explore psychology and filmmaking while considering his long-term career goals.

We're so proud of you, Connor, and we can’t wait to see where the future takes you!

Welcome back, Student Dreamers!

This week at MCIU, we launched another year of Dreaming Forward, a leadership experience for Montgomery County high school students focused on increasing belonging across schools and communities.

During the first session of the 2026-27 school year, students explored the concept of self-awareness and how navigating their own experiences and identities can help them better understand belonging in their schools.

Our Dream Architects, student leaders in their third year of the program, also had the opportunity to reflect on their leadership strengths while collaborating with one another to co-design this year’s Dreaming Forward experience.

We can’t wait to see what’s ahead for our Student Dreamers. See you in December!

We were excited to welcome back our mentors and inductees this week for the kickoff of MCIU’s Year 2 Induction Program!

This two-year program supports new MCIU educators as they grow in their roles, pairing each inductee with a mentor for ongoing guidance, collaboration and professional development.

During yesterday’s kickoff, the Year 2 cohort learned more about the purpose and importance of action research, reviewed certification topics, and received support with MCIU’s Brightspace and Learn Connect platforms. The session also provided time for mentors and inductees to connect as they begin their second year together.

We’re looking forward to supporting this group throughout their second year of learning, collaboration and professional growth!
