62 years of the GWCCC Legacy....... loading. Come out this Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 1:00 pm. - 7:00 pm. for our 62nd Anniversary Celebration.

We will have our youth performing and showcasing their talent! Get ready to see what each individual or group is ready to display.

We would love to honor our heroes Stanley McClennon Jr. also known as "Junior" and Mary Johnson whose lives were lost on July 5, 1944, which is our "WHY" the George Washington Carver Community Center was founded and built.

Come out for our Talent show/tik tok and Swim event. You won't want to miss out on this event.

Did you know that today is "U.S. National Learn to Swim Day? The third Saturday of May, this national day is celebrated and reminded of the importance of learning how to Swim.

We would love to take time out and honor two heroes who drowned on July 5, 1944. Stanley McClennon Jr. aka as "Junior" and Mary Johnson. These two are the reasons why the GWCCC was founded and built. We continue to pray for them, our families, as well as our community. They have left a legacy that we will continue to honor and focus on.

As we are preparing for our pool opening. Remember..... safety is everything!

*** NEW CDC COVID GUIDELINES ***

As the GWCCC continues to comply and follow the CDC Guidelines, for mask mandate requirements, we take these precautions very serious. Even when the CDC lifted mask requirements, about nine months ago, the GWCCC continued to encourage our board members, employees, community, children, and etc. to continue to wear them, as an extra safety precaution.

Effective immediately! The GWCCC requires everyone who enters the facility to wear a mask, as the COVID rates are significantly increasing.

We will resume; all in person events and activities, that are scheduled, which we require all individuals to wear masks as well as check everyone's temperature, as they enter the GWCCC.

Over the past five months, we had a Plan of Action to offer virtual activities and programs, in the event, that rates would start increasing, which they are. However, the rates are not significant enough to eliminate our in person activities and programs.

We will continue to monitor, observe, well as track the statistics and data to ensure the safety of everyone. We will keep you all updated as much as possible.

We appreciate your support, assistance, as well as patience!

A medida que GWCCC continúa cumpliendo y siguiendo las Pautas de los CDC, para los requisitos obligatorios de máscaras, tomamos estas precauciones muy en serio. Recap of Wednesday evening's "Dad's On the Block" fatherhood/male mentorship program. The GWCCC has partnered with Kind Hearts, which is an amazing program offered to fathers/male mentors. They offer a welcoming and inviting environment to all. The resources they have for the males are phenomenal.

The founders of Kind Hearts (Mr. And Mrs. Riley) have been establishing many programs that engage fathers with their children, about 4 years now. I know you may have heard of "Dad's On the Block", which is operated in the school district, which has been a successful event. The feedback and impact has been so phenomenal, in the school environment, that Kind Hearts wanted to offer the same exposure and opportunities for the fathers/male mentors in our community.

Dad's On the Block is a growing program that focuses on; building healthy relationships, father and children bonding, offering different activities, as well as developing plan of action.

Statistically....... "Fathers are more interested in their child(ren)'s academics than mothers".

Now....... "Dad's Day" is working its way into the community; called "Dad's Day on the Block". Please read flyer and sign your child and father/important male role model up. This program will assist with many essentials and things needed in a child's life.

FREE T-shirts, resources, and refreshments given to all participants.

Participants will meet one time a month.

Appreciation goes a long way. A huge shout out to a young teen who decided to choose GWCCC; with donating sooooooo many sports items to.

Tennis rackets, golf items, lacrosse, baseball, softball, soccer, football, and basketball. This young man has covered; basically majority of the most known sports.

This family would like to remain anonymous as we would like them to know how appreciative we are for their donations. ⚽️⚾️🥎🏀🏐🏈🎾🏑🏓🥍🥅

As the GWCCC observes May as "Mental Health Awareness Month", our Mental Health/Mental Wealth Committee of professionals are here to serve you; not only during the month of May, but always available.

Mental health affects many individuals, which has exhibited a significant increase throughout the Pandemic (prior, during, and after). Whether you are diagnosed or undiagnosed, our Mental Health/Mental Wealth Committee will provide great tools and strategies that you can use to help you; understand how to cope with real life events, trauma, resources, the process of deescalation, as well as many other topics.

Our mission is to provide; Safety Plans, set up individual goals, objectives, as well as strategies to support you as much as needed, so you can be successful. 💙❤️🙏🏽

Preparation for our 62nd Anniversary's Talent Show/Swim Party. We would love to give a huge shout out to our Parliamentarian "Mrs. India Ballard", of the GWCCC Board, for volunteering a lot of her time. She has been beautifying our outdoors as our upcoming swim season approaches with completing; painting, scraping, cleaning, landscaping, and assisting our pool company with updates and repairs. Thank you to Lamar Epps and Bernard Gordon for cleaning and keeping up with the pool. Pool is being filled! 🙏🏽🙌❤️🩴
