Please join us for a conversation on the future of the OU College of International Studies and the role of international programs in the university’s newly developed strategic plan.

Since the pandemic emerged last spring, many international students have continued to endure significant stress and hardship attempting to return to their home countries, cover the cost of rent and food, and continue their studies. These problems have been worsened by a sometimes perplexing and callous regulatory environment that has created a secondary layer of uncertainty and potential financial distress.

The David L. Boren College of International Studies aspires to be a national center of excellence and innovation in international education. Its goals are to broaden international exchange and research partnerships; to enhance the global fluency of all OU students so they can become compassionate, open-minded global citizens and leaders; and to serve OU’s international students.

As part of that mission, the College chairs the International Student Response Task Force of deans, vice presidents and directors across OU’s three campuses, and houses OU’s International Student Services (ISS) unit, which has been providing services to international students for over 50 years. These efforts serve around 2,000 international students and their dependents from over 100 countries across OU.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at our first international Zoom! We will be hosting more in the future, so make sure to catch the next one coming to you this holiday season! Happy Monday afternoon, OUIAA! We hope you all are staying well! The OU Alumni Association has created a virtual 5k for all associations to participate in since we can't come together as we normally would at this time. If you are interested, please register below. The cost is $20 to register, and $35 if you'd like a t-shirt mailed to you after the 5k is completed. There are multiple ways to participate and you can do so in a group or individually (with proper social distancing and protective measures encouraged). This is a great way to get physical activity during these quarantine times and stay connected to the Sooner family. The virtual 5k will last from July 5th-July 12th and the activity is tracked through social media and a special app. Please see details at the website below. We hope you will join us to virtually kick off the summer together and unite in a unique way this year!
