Our Story
We are a humanitarian organization (501c3) operating out of Norman, Oklahoma. The 1040 Initiative is a nonprofit that exists to provide life-changing essentials to impoverished communities in Côte d'Ivoire and Morocco. Our work centers around education, health care, and safe drinking water to those who would otherwise go without. Since 2010, 1040i supporters have impacted more than 36,000 lives in Africa.
Our Tanda Bilingual Academy is an educational community committed to training its students to become ethical leaders in their city, country, continent, and the world. It has been named the #1 school in the region by the Ministry of Education in Côte d’Ivoire.
Additionally, our Sponsor a Student program assists students in grades 1-5. For just $40 a month, sponsors provide students with registration fees for Tanda Bilingual Academy, class supplies, nutritious lunches, educational assistance, health & hygiene lessons, and medical checkups. Sponsors also foster personal relationships with sponsored students through letter writing.
Other donation opportunities include behalf giving, in which supporters may provide gifts of water filtration devices, cataract surgeries, life-saving surgeries, or a year’s worth of school supplies. We invite you to join us in our mission by volunteering your time, contributing financially or sharing our message and find out why our supporters say #iam1040i.
