People will often oppose all density on the basis that we want to “maintain the small town feel.”

However, low density means destinations are far apart, which means everyone drives, and main streets look more like the first photo. The second photo is a result achieved only by allowing higher density.

Norman needs a revival of the “missing middle”. The housing types in between a single family home and apartment buildings.

When most people think of “density” it evokes fears of massive 5 over 1 apartments being built right next to single family neighborhoods. It doesn’t have to be that way! We can put infill development within existing neighborhoods by looking at examples from all over of density done right.
