Meet Patti Stem, board member & Vice President at “It Takes a Village Oklahoma Youth Organization Foundation.”
Dr. Patti Stem’s entire career has been working in the mental health field working with juveniles and adults in forensic and correctional settings. She currently holds the position of Deputy Chief Mental Health Officer for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Additionally, she teaches Psychology of Trauma as an adjunct professor at the University of Tulsa. Patti is a supporter of Advocates for Africa, a mission dedicated to serving the people of Rwanda. She was a part of their first Women’s Conference held in Rwanda in 2020, and will be returning to Rwanda in February of 2023 for a week of service. She also sponsors 3 children through Advocates. In her spare time, she loves photography, especially nature photography, but also loves photographing her grandchildren, and her 3 cats, to their annoyance. She is a member of View Acres Baptist Church in Tulsa, and also a member of the life group Sisters in Public Service through Life Church in Norman.
Patti is blessed with a large and growing family that includes 4 grown children, 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren (and 3 more great grandchildren coming before the end of 2022!) As she watched her grandchildren transitioning to adulthood, surrounded with tremendous family support, she was aware that young adults aging out of foster care don’t always have the support they need, and that is what drew her to be a part of ITAV.
We are so grateful to have Patti on our Board of Directors, she is a great advocate for mental health & our children will benefit greatly from her expertise & wisdom.
