October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! 💙💼

It is a time to recognize the many contributions people with disabilities make at work and in their communities.

At Lifelong Access, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to work, grow, and be part of their community. Our Supported Employment program helps people with disabilities find and keep a career of their choosing.

Our team provides job development and job facilitation, formerly known as job coaching. We help people build skills, find the right job, and be successful at work. We also work with our Behavioral Health Clinic to provide support that looks at the whole person.

Know someone who could benefit from Supported Employment? Please refer them to Lifelong Access. You could help someone take the next step toward a job, greater independence, and a stronger connection to their community.

Several groups that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families are coming together to share helpful information.

Changes to Medicaid and SNAP may affect individuals and families. This webinar will explain what is changing, how these changes may affect your benefits, and what you can do to keep your benefits and avoid a loss of services.

Topics will include:

- Changes to Medicaid and SNAP
- Who can get Medicaid and work rules that may apply
- Who may qualify for exceptions to work rules
- How to renew Medicaid and keep your coverage
- Changes to SNAP and how to protect your food benefits
- What to do if your benefits are reduced or stopped
- Time to ask questions and get answers

Welcome to Lifelong Access.

This video, shared at our 2026 A D’Vine Affair, gives you a look at who we are, the people we serve, and the difference we make every day.

For more than 70 years, Lifelong Access has been helping people with disabilities, mental health needs, or both live meaningful and fulfilling lives. Our work is about more than services. It is about people, families, friendships, opportunities, and making sure everyone has a place where they belong.

In this video, we shared the vision for the 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝟯𝟬𝟭 𝗪. 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻. The historic building is currently under construction, and we are making progress toward opening before the start of the 2027–28 school year. When completed, we will bring many Lifelong Access services together under one roof and create new opportunities for children, adults, families, and the broader community.

We would also love to invite you to learn more about Lifelong Access through our 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀.

Discover Lifelong Access is an opportunity for small groups to visit our campus, learn more about our programs and services, and hear more about the work we do. Refreshments will be provided, and tours are available by appointment.

We are also inviting community leaders, connectors, and advocates to become more involved through our 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹.

The Impact Council is a high-engagement group dedicated to expanding opportunities for people with disabilities and individuals living with mental health conditions. Members can help Lifelong Access build relationships, identify funding opportunities, support the Care Collective project, and advance other efforts that improve lives in our community.

What a wonderful evening at our annual Lifelong Access Pumpkin Patch Night! 🎃🍂

Thanks to the generous support of the McLean County 377 Board and Anonymous Trust, our pediatric families were able to enjoy this special evening at no cost and take home a pumpkin. We’re also grateful for the Books for Kids Grant, which allowed us to send children home with books of their own! 📚💜

A special thank you to Rader Family Farms for providing such a welcoming, inclusive space, and to our incredible Lifelong Access team, whose dedication makes moments like these, and the work we do every day, possible.

We are so fortunate to have a community that helps us create memories and opportunities for the families we serve! 💜🎃

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that mental health matters every day. Taking time to care for ourselves, checking in on others, and knowing where to turn for support can make a meaningful difference. 🧠🌱

Lifelong Access was pleased to attend the 2026 State of Education event on October 2, bringing together local business, civic, and education leaders to discuss the future of education and workforce readiness in McLean County.

A key takeaway was the importance of preparing students for life after graduation through career opportunities, real-world experiences, and essential life and professional skills.

At Lifelong Access, we work with local high schools to provide services and supports for students with disabilities, helping them build skills, develop independence, and prepare for greater opportunities in adulthood.

We appreciate the collaboration among our local schools, colleges, businesses, and community partners. By working together, we can create more opportunities for all students to succeed and contribute to our community!

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, a time to recognize, celebrate, and support people with Down syndrome and the many ways they contribute to our families, workplaces, schools, and communities.

Every person with Down syndrome has their own strengths, interests, goals, and dreams. At Lifelong Access, we believe every person deserves to be heard, respected, included, and supported in reaching their goals.

Through our services and supports, Lifelong Access works alongside individuals and families to provide person-centered care that can help people live, learn, work, build relationships, and participate in their communities.

We are proud to support individuals with Down syndrome and their families through services designed around each person’s unique needs, choices, and goals.
