: The Black Youth Empowerment Network congratulates our Founder and Executive Director, Jay’Shun Mathews (), on being named a 2026 Young Futures Awardee through the inaugural Young Futures Awards powered by Hopelab, in the Entrepreneurs category.

This recognition honors a national community of founders and builders advancing scalable models that center connection, leadership, wellbeing, and belonging, and reimagining what purpose-driven innovation can look like for the next generation.

Jay’Shun was selected alongside young leaders from across the country, reflecting the national scope of his leadership and the growing impact of his work in building Black Youth Empowerment Network into a movement rooted in access, community, and youth-led power.

Under his leadership, BYEN continues to expand its reach and deepen its commitment to developing Black youth as confident, capable leaders shaping their communities and institutions.

We extend gratitude to and for this recognition.

: The Black Youth Empowerment Network proudly congratulates Genesis Price () on being crowned Miss Maroon & White at Morehouse College.

This moment is well-earned. Genesis leads with intention, shows up with consistency, and pours into others in a way that doesn’t always get seen, but is always felt. In her role as our Program Coordinator, she has helped build out programming, support our members, and ensure that what we do is not just impactful, but meaningful and rooted in purpose.

Being named Miss Maroon & White is a reflection of the standard she carries every day—on campus, within our organization, and in the way she represents something bigger than herself.

We’re proud to have her on our team and even more proud to see her recognized in this way. This is what it looks like when preparation meets purpose, and we have no doubt her leadership will continue to leave a lasting mark far beyond this moment.

: Congratulations to our Morehouse Chapter () for being recognized as Best Registered Student Organization of the Year for the 2025–2026 academic year at the Morehouse College Lux Awards.

To receive this honor in the chapter’s first year of existence makes this recognition especially powerful. As the inaugural chapter of the Black Youth Empowerment Network, BYEN House has translated its founding motto, “Student Leadership Reimagined,” into measurable impact through community-centered initiatives like Thanksgiving on Wheels, service, campus engagement, and values-driven leadership.

In just one year, the chapter has not only built community and cultivated a strong familial culture on campus, but has also emerged as a model for what youth-led impact can look like when vision meets ex*****on.

Congratulations to BYEN House for setting a standard in its inaugural year and continuing to serve as a blueprint for chapter excellence across our network.

The Black Youth Empowerment Network formally welcomes Raymond Greene () as Interim Director of Chapter Development and Operations.

Raymond has been an advocate for BYEN since its inception, serving in leadership during our earliest stages in 2024. He later continued his service as Membership Coordinator for the BYEN Alabama A&M University chapter, contributing to the growth and strengthening of chapter engagement.

This appointment comes at a pivotal time as BYEN continues to expand its national chapter network. In this role, Raymond will lead efforts to advance chapter development, reinforce operational standards, and ensure alignment across all chapters.

We look forward to his leadership as we continue building a strong and unified national network.

Community is at the heart of our network.

We commend our University of Georgia chapter for exemplifying this through their recent BYEN Bash—an intentional space for students to decompress ahead of finals, build meaningful connections, and engage in community through food, fellowship, and joy.

While we take pride in connecting our members to opportunities, our most important work remains the same: connecting Black youth to one another.

The energy in the room two days ago at Alabama A&M’s inaugural induction ceremony and chartering was incredible—something you could truly feel the moment you walked in. It was a powerful reflection of what it means to build community, step into leadership, and be part of something bigger than yourself.

Our founder Jay’Shun Mathews () and Morehouse Chapter Founding President Miles Darby () traveled to Alabama to personally welcome the newest members into the network, marking a major moment as we continue to grow beyond Georgia. The room was filled with genuine connection, shared purpose, and a clear sense that something meaningful is being built together.

We’re proud to officially welcome the Alabama A&M chapter into the BYEN family—this is just the beginning.
