Today, the MacArthur Memorial hosted a moving Memorial Day program dedicated to honoring the brave Americans who gave their lives in service to our nation. We were honored to welcome Commissioner John Maxwell as our ceremonial speaker, alongside distinguished military and civic leaders who helped lead today’s remembrance.

The ceremony featured the Presentation of Colors by Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek–Fort Story, the National Anthem performed by Isabella Rodriguez, an invocation and benediction by Chaplain Anthony Johnson, USN, and a solemn remembrance wreath laying led by Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander, Commissioner John Maxwell, and Maj Gen Joseph Reynes, Jr., USAF (Ret). The program concluded with the sounding of Taps by SGT Peter J. Smith of the U.S. Army School of Music, reminding all in attendance of the enduring sacrifice made by generations of service members.

The General Douglas MacArthur Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to all participants, volunteers, service members, veterans, and guests who joined us in honoring the fallen. On this Memorial Day, we pause not only to remember their sacrifice, but to ensure their legacy lives on for future generations. 🇺🇸

This past Friday, General MacArthur’s Korean War parka was unveiled and officially transferred to the MacArthur Memorial.

Worn during one of the most defining periods of his military leadership, the parka stands as a powerful symbol of service, resilience, and history. Its preservation ensures that future generations can better understand and connect with the legacy of General MacArthur and the broader story of the Korean War.

The parka is currently on exhibit in the MacArthur Memorial Visitors Center.
