One of our awesome workers got to head to DC and rep all of us from Local 10. You rock, Nicole!

“I had the opportunity earlier this week to represent Local 10 at the IAM Legislative Conference in DC. The purpose of this conference was for IAM union members from all over the country to campaign for pro-labor legislation with their representatives in congress and the senate in DC.

We are lucky to have Bobby Scott as our congressman who is VERY labor friendly - so no campaigning really needed to be done with him. Charles and I focused on Senators Kaine and Warner, who are also labor friendly compared to a lot of state reps but Warner falls short in a few areas - notably not being in favor of the PRO Act which eliminates “right to work.” We met with the aids of both senators and spoke on a few items up for vote - the one that is most relevant to us is the Faster Labor Contracts Act.”

One of our awesome workers, Matt, was able to attend the IAM Virginia State Council hosted in Richmond. This spring session addressed ongoing attacks on federal workers’ collective bargaining rights, and outlined opportunities to expand organizing. We are so proud to have an ongoing presence with our union siblings and grateful for all their support as we work towards our first contract! Way to go Matt!!
