The Norfolk Chapter was organized on May 18, 1968. There were ten charter members: Geraldine Clemons, Silvia Clemons, Thelma Clemmons, Dr. Ruth W. Diggs, Mary Holloman, Linda Jackson, Hattie Jones, Caril Milton, Ada Throckmorton and Jeneal Worrell. Ada Throckmorton was the first Basileus of the Delta Beta Sigma Chapter. Striving to enhance the goals of the sorority, our annual projects focus on providing services and funding to many community organizations, churches, schools and students.

💙💛 Unity in the Community | Operation BigBookBag 2026 💛💙

Saturday, the ladies of the Delta Beta Sigma, Norfolk Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. proudly participated in Phase II of Unity in the Community at the Norfolk Scope Arena! Our young scholars and their families had access to FREE backpacks, school supplies, community resources, and so much more as they prepare for a successful school year. 🎒📚✏️

Phase I began with the Delta Beta Sigma–Norfolk Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. partnering with the City of Norfolk and Norfolk Public Schools through our Operation BigBookBag 2026 initiative.

From Phase I to Phase II, it has been wonderful to see our community come together with one shared purpose—helping our children and families START STRONG and FINISH STRONGER! 💪🏾💙💛

When we work together, our impact is greater. Together, we are DYNAMIC! 🐩✨

What an incredible time we shared this weekend at our Delta Beta Sigma (Norfolk Alumnae) Chapter Family Sisterhood Retreat! 💙💛

Our retreat was filled with meaningful conversations, laughter, learning, creativity, and opportunities to strengthen the bonds that make our sisterhood so special.

Thank you to every Soror, Rhoer (Delta Beta Sigma Rhoer Club) & Philo (Delta Beta Sigma Philo Affiliate) who attended, participated, and brought your unique energy to this unforgettable experience. Your presence made the retreat a tremendous success, and we are grateful for your commitment to our chapter and to one another.

TAMPA BOULE BY THE BAY IS COMPLETE! Delta Beta Sigma, Norfolk Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Sorors traveled to Tampa, Florida last week for our 61st Biennial Boule.

While we enjoyed the celebrations and created lasting memories, we also remained committed to the important work of our organization—conducting the business that continues to move Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. forward and strengthen our mission of Greater Service, Greater Progress.

In addition to business, we had some celebrations as well. Congratulations to Soror Rhonda Lambert for officially being inducted as a Cultured Pearl, celebrating 50 years in our illustrious organization. Also, Congratulations to Sorors Teresa Brown and Latrice Kim Anderson for officially being inducted as Ruby Sorors, celebrating over 22 years of membership in our organization.

We laughed, we cried, we sang, we danced...it felt like a huge family reunion that leaves our hearts FULL.

We returned home inspired, empowered, and ready to put what we've learned into action as we continue serving our communities with excellence.

Here's to the bonds we've strengthened, the memories we've made, and the work that lies ahead. See everyone at Boule 2028!
