📚 October's Book of the Month is Bebe Antirracista by Ibram X. Kendi! 💛 We're continuing our spotlight of books in Spanish for Hispanic Heritage Month!

This beautifully illustrated 24-page board book is designed for the youngest readers and the parents and caregivers who read with them. It introduces little ones to ideas of inclusion, equity, and celebrating differences in an encouraging, age-appropriate way.

Why we're highlighting it:

🕯️Join us at the Big Free Bookstore on October 31st for our Dia de Mu***os Celebracion and Community Ofrenda. 🕯️
🏵️For Those attending our Dia de Mu***os Celebracion, there will be read alouds and arts and crafts from 11 to 12 pm and free books, and treats all day! Costumes are encouraged, since it’s also Halloween Day.
🏵️To those who cannot attend, but wish to participate in the Community Ofrenda, please bring your departed one’s photo in a small standing frame anytime between October 27 and October 31. Photos will be placed on display as part of our Community Ofrenda on October 31.
🏵️Please pick up your photo on Tuesday, November 3.

✨We’re growing our team at REACH!✨
We are currently accepting applications for a part-time Bookstore Clerk to join us at The Big Free Bookstore in Norfolk.
We’re looking for someone who is friendly, dependable, community-minded, and enjoys working with children, families, and people from all walks of life. This position is a great fit for someone who loves books, believes in our mission, and doesn’t mind jumping in wherever needed to help keep things running smoothly.
Position Details:
• 25–30 hours per week
• $16.50 per hour
• Located at The Big Free Bookstore at JANAF Shopping Center
• Tuesday–Saturday availability required
• Occasional Sundays and special events
• Includes bookstore operations, customer service, event support, and fundraising initiatives.
