The Audubon's 126th Christmas Bird Count will be held from Dec 14, 2025 to January 5, 2026. In this annual citizen science project, volunteers of all skill levels count all the birds they see or hear within a 15-mile-diameter circle on a single day to help researchers monitor bird population health and guide conservation efforts. The Cape Henry Audubon will be involved with multiple counts. Learn more and get contact info for local counts at https://www.audubon.org/community-science/christmas-bird-count/join-christmas-bird-count

Woohoo! We just received word that the Governor signed HB1941, the bill requiring signage identifying invasive plants where they are sold. See https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20251/HB1941.
Pictured is a sprout of invasive English Ivy that is sold in nurseries and garden centers. The effective date is in 2027.
