By official proclamation, September is Kinship Care Month! We were honored to join Governor Pillen and our statewide partners in recognizing the crucial role kinship caregivers play in the lives of Nebraska children.

Kinship caregivers step up every day, in every county across Nebraska, to provide love, connection and stability to the children in their lives. Taking on this role can bring unexpected challenges and sacrifices as families navigate the sudden responsibility of meeting a child’s needs. As kinship caregivers represent a growing share of out-of-home placements, ensuring these families have the support and resources they need is more important than ever.

We thank Governor Pillen for taking the time to celebrate the contributions of these selfless individuals and to all of the community partners who work with us to make sure that kinship families are equipped to thrive from day one.

We have the best community partners! 👟❤️

Our friends at PenFed STEPPED UP for our Lace Up to Learn shoe drive. We sent them the names of children who needed new shoes to start the school year and they made sure each child got the perfect pair!

Each pair is even more meaningful knowing it was personally chosen by someone who wanted to help a child start the school year feeling confident and ready to learn.

Thank you to the PenFed team for coming together to support Nebraska children and families. With these new shoes, we know everyone will have a great first day!

For literal DECADES, our friends at Armbrust Acres have shown up for Nebraska children and families again and again. Whenever there’s a need, we know we can count on this kind-hearted community to rally together and make a difference! 💪

This year, they stepped up to support Lace Up to Learn, helping provide kids with new shoes for the school year. Thanks to their generosity, children in our community are heading back to school feeling confident, supported and ready to learn. Thank you, Armbrust Acres, for always being there for Nebraska families! 💙
