Was in Granby Singers in high school, and still loves and leads music at church today!


My Why: Ultimately I want to be able to serve the community at Granby High School in all the ways that I wish we would’ve had available to us as students. Paying it forward is impactful, and I want to create sustainable change and support in the school community to create a culture of belonging and momentum for the students and faculty as each generation is developed through their time spent at Granby.

My name is Aida Vicente, Class of 2005 and I am the Vice President of the Granby High School Alumni Association. I was born and raised in the Hampton Roads area, though my family is originally from Puerto Rico. I grew up in the Ocean View area of Norfolk and went to Ocean View Elementary School, Northside Middle School, and Granby High School. I chose the non-traditional path to obtain my undergraduate degree and opted for hands-on, real world experience right after high school. I have worked in the healthcare industry for 16 years, mostly with Sentara Health, in various roles including billing, project management, process improvement, consulting, care delivery/business operations and development and most recently, corporate strategy and consumer experience.

I changed career paths from Operations to Consumer Experience, recently, to assist our organization in our Transformation to become “One Sentara” as a Journey Lead. My passion and dedication to ensure our organization succeeds in providing quality health care to ALL has allowed me the opportunity to work in this exciting space.



Serving the community is extremely important to me and I love to be involved in helping others. In addition to the Alumni Association, I currently serve as the Events and Volunteerism Committee Chair of the Leadership Society, Women United, through the United Way of Southampton Roads. I was also just elected as a Board Member of the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives for the DMV Chapter.

In my "spare time" I love to be with my family. My three-year-old son Dominic, "DJ", certainly keeps my husband and I on our toes! I love a good glass of champagne or a red wine while watching my guilty pleasure reality tv shows or Law and Order SVU, toes in the sand on a beautiful Summer day, planning family trips to Puerto Rico, and dancing and singing to 90s and early 2000s music to get me through the day.

I am so excited to reignite the Granby High School Alumni Association and I am looking forward to building more connections and serving our Granby community.
