Today, we pause.

Not for a sale.
Not for a long weekend.
Not for ourselves.

Today, we remember the Fallen.

The sons and daughters.
The brothers and sisters.
The husbands and wives.
The fathers, mothers, friends, and Heroes who gave everything in service to this country.

Their names are not just etched in stone.
They are carried in the hearts of the families who love them, the brothers and sisters who served beside them, and the nation that lives free because of their sacrifice.

At Til Valhalla Project, Memorial Day is sacred.

It is a day to remember the cost of freedom, to Honor the Fallen, and to hold close the families who carry an empty seat, an unanswered phone call, and a lifetime of love with nowhere to go.

May we never forget why this day matters.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Today and always, we Honor the Fallen.

We also remember Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shah, whose leadership, service, and impact on the ODU community will continue to be felt and remembered by many.

As we begin Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Old Dominion University Student Veterans of America proudly recognizes and honors the service, sacrifice, and lasting contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander veterans and service members. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŒบ

From every branch of service and across every generation, AAPI service members have answered the call with courage, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Their impact has helped shape the strength of our armed forces and the legacy of military service in this country. ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ

This month, we also recognize the extraordinary legacy of AAPI military leaders such as Daniel Inouye, who served with the legendary 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II, and Telesforo Trinidad, the first Filipino American and first Asian American sailor to receive the Medal of Honor for heroism in the U.S. Navy. Their courage and sacrifice remain lasting reminders of the strength, valor, and patriotism of AAPI service members throughout our nationโ€™s history. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโš“

ODU SVA stands in gratitude with the AAPI military communityโ€”past and presentโ€”for their commitment, leadership, and continued service. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™
