United Order of Tents, Southern District No. 1

United Order of Tents, Southern District No. 1 United Order of Tents, is a Christian Fraternal Benevolent Organization, founded by two ex-slave women in 1867.

This organization is managed predominantly by black women. Southern District No. 1 spans across North Carolina, Virginia, and District of Colum United Order of Tents is composed of women from all walks of life who have come together to work for the causes of the organization. The organization is divided into Surbordinate Tents that span across the states of Virginia, North Carolina, and Washington

D.C. Local Districts within cities; two State Conferences (VIR-WAS-MAR, for Virginia, Washington D.C. and Maryland) and also the North Carolina Conference of Tents for North Carolina, and Grand District that serves as the Headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia.

United Order of Tents will celebrate Rest Haven Homecoming on October 10, 2020. The Fayetteville District of the United Order of Tents will be our host. Rest Haven was built in 1894 to have a resting place for our senior sisters.
We now own a 16 bed building on Quash Street in Hampton, VA. We thank God for our founders and our Sisters of today for keeping the legacy alive.

Sisters, what a wonderful 150th Anniversary we just had!! To God be the glory for the great things He has done!! Our next endeavor is the National Grand Encampment, August 7-11, 2017, in the beautiful city of Alexandria, Va. Sisters if you have your 8th degree, or are due to receive your 8th degree, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE join us, as you don't want to miss this grand event!!!
