its that time of year folks. All 8 branches of the Initiative are ready to kick off SIGNS of HOPE 2012. It will run from this weekend to the middle of December and each week we will be hitting the streets of Hampton Roads handing out food, clothing, and other seasonal goods to those in need. We're asking for donations, ANYTHING you can give will be accepted and put to good use but we have a list of things we are considering 'high value' and are very much in need of. Those items are as follows:
•hats
•scarves
•jackets
•raincoats/ponchos
•sweaters/sweatshirts/sweat pants
•gloves
•socks
•shoes
•blankets/comforters/quilts
•sleeping bags
•deodorant
•toilet paper
•trash bags/grocery bags
travel toothpaste/toothbrush kits
•HOT HANDS™ handwarmers
•granola bars
•jerky
•cigarettes and lighters
We will be making sandwiches, soup, hot coffee and cider and we will all personally be taking to the streets in search of those in need.
"What if you don't find anyone to take all the stuff I donate?"
We will have a local homeless shelter or charitable organization lined up to receive what we can't hand out ourselves. Anyone can drop off clothing at goodwill, Salvation Army, or CHKD, but it takes care and compassion to take the time to confront these individuals face to face and let them know that someone is watching out for them. Anyone who wants to join us is more than welcome to tag along. We'll have a schedule set up soon and donations can either be dropped off at one of the yet to be determined local businesses we will be working with or they can brought directly to one of us in the Virginia Initiative (message me for details or visit our page

any help you can give will mean a lot to us and will mean the world to someone in need.
