Last night a team from Aldersgate UMC served dinner in the men's shelter for Union Mission Ministries, Norfolk. As always, we were sincerely welcomed! What a blessing to see the Union Mission's work firsthand.

Aldersgate Family, thank you for your generosity in supporting the recent shoe giveaway sponsored by School Board member Alfreda Thomas. The good news: The giveaway served about 179 children. However, the need outstripped the supply. About 50 children had to be turned away. As a thought, perhaps if we support this next year we need to turn to the other churches in our area so we can expand the supply. We even had a woman message us via this page noting she was from Petersburg and needed shoes for 5 children. It was a blessing to be able to serve the children who did benefit and your contributions were instrumental in making that happen. Here's a few photos from that event.

Aldersgate Family, the donated shoes for Norfolk students were delivered to School Board member Alfreda Thomas today. Here's a little video "thank you" from Ms. Thomas to our church and our partner Impact Worship Center. Ms. Thomas did mispronounce our church's name a little, but the grateful spirit comes through! We can be proud of taking that extra step (pun intended) to help the precious children of Norfolk Public Schools!

Aldersgate Family and Impact Worship Center, first thank you for all the donations for the upcoming shoe giveaway for Norfolk students! As a reminder, the shoe giveaway will take place this coming Thursday, August 13 at the Jordan-Newby Library, from 5:30-p.m.-7 p.m.

Also, Impact Worship Center is sponsoring a school supplies giveaway this coming Sunday August 16. The service starts at 11 a.m. with the giveaway commencing soon after. Please share these two opportunities with families you believe would benefit. You are encouraged to share this post which includes flyers on the events.

Today a group of volunteers from Aldersgate UMC (the little church that can and does) handed out water and ink pens to travelers at the Newtown Road Light Rail Station. It was a hot day so the recipients were gracious and grateful! If there had been an award for the most enthusiastic volunteer it would have to go to Eric Cramer. Eric showed folks how much he loved making their trips a little easier! Many thanks to Michele Floyd who organized the outing!

💧 Share Cold Water. Share God's Love. 💙

This Saturday, July 11 from 10-11:30 a.m., members of the Aldersgate family will gather at the Newtown Road Light Rail Station to offer free bottled water, coozies, and pens to travelers on what is expected to be a hot summer day.

Our hope is simple: to refresh those who are thirsty—and perhaps even make a connection with someone who is thirsty for God's love.

We'd love for you to join us!

It's easy to help:
💙 Arrive a few minutes before our start time.
💙 Bring a cooler with bottled water if you're able.
💙 Share a smile and a kind word as you hand out water.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.

Aldersgate Family, please make every effort to be in church next Sunday, June 14. Pastor Donna will address topics pertinent to the future of our church in preparation for our July meeting with the district superintendent. And most importantly, pray for our sweet church and every member who loves it.
