Trying vs. Trusting March 17,2013
Are you trying to get God to hear your prayers and your requests for help, or are you trusting in the promises of the Bible? There is a huge difference. Trying involves being unsure about whether God will "come thru" for you, and trusting knows that no matter how long it takes, the word of God and His promises will be fulfilled in your life. A child will hold a parent's hand and trust that parent to lead and guide him. Are you holding God's hand as a child?

The Blink of an Eye Sept 23, 2012
Many times Chrisitian people wonder "when will Jesus come back?" Why hasn't He come already? Psalm 90:4 says that to God a "day is like a thousand years." That means that a week to Him is 7000 years to us!! Our lives, in God's timeclock, are about 2 hours and 10 mins!!! Never forget that YOUR time on the earth is fleeting and you may NOT get a second chance to do the right thing.

Are you afraid of spiders? I was until about eight years ago. When I use the term afraid I literally mean that if I saw a spider I would scream for my husband!
How did I overcome that fear? When I began to meditate on the Word of God I came to understand that there is nothing I should be afraid of and that many times fear feeds on itself. We focus on the fear instead of 1John 4:4. Do you know this verse by heart? If not, you probably don’t meditate enough on the Bible and what is says, because this verse is powerful for overcoming any obstacles. Okay, perhaps spiders aren’t a problem for you, but WHAT is it that you are afraid of? Maybe fear of flying, or driving on the highway, or dogs? Whatever it is God wants to help you be who HE meant you to be, and with God’s help you can be.

He’s Off to Las Vegas!!@ August 16,2012
Early this morning my son Brian left for Las Vegas. I knew he was planning to go, what I DIDN’T know was that he was driving there!! That’s about 3000 miles, and he is driving by himself. Okay, so Brian is 25 years old now, not a boy anymore. Not like when he and Richard took off for Florida when they were 19 and 18, without even saying “goodbye”. I have grown in spiritual maturity and my trust is in God. With complete confidence I rest in the words of David in Psalm 112:7-8. How about YOU? Have you put your trust in the Lord? Do you REALLY trust Him with your most precious possessions?

She STOLE Milk to Feed her Children... August 8,2012
Today while at the gym, I overheard a conversation. The other two women were in the shower area and I was out by the lockers. One of the women said there were six children in her family. Her family didn't have much money and when they were growing up her mother stole mother from the neighbors to feed the kids; stealing from different neighbors so as not to take too much from one. The other women asked "why did she keep having children if they had no money?" To which lady one replied "she didn't know anything about birth control." Isn't that just like many Christians today? They don't KNOW what the Bible says, so they DON'T know God's promises and therefere are beset by defeat after defeat. Just like birth control (forgive me Lord for the comparison!)
you need to KNOW the Bible BEFORE you need to use what is in it.
Do you know what Hosea 4:6 says-without having to look it up? If you don't, you don't know the Bible as well as you should.

I don't think I CAN MAKE IT! July 29, 2012
Earlier this week I took my neice Eva in to the Bunker Hill monument. Last time I was there I was around 12 years old so it was a number of years ago!! I knew there were 274 steps and was prepared to climb to the top. The day we went was a hot, humid day. When we were at about step 30 I started breathing heavier and a thought came into my mind:
"You might pass out from the heat if you keep climbing. You can't climb all the way. You will look pretty ridiculous if you collapse and how will anyone rescue you in here?"
For about 20 seconds I allowed that thought and then I said to myself:
"Devil, in the name of Jesus I WILL make this climb. Now get lost!"
You see I KNEW where that thought came from. There is no physical reason WHY I couldn't climb; I am in excellent health and exercise regularly. You may be thinking what does climbing all the way to the top have to do with life-but I assure you it DOES. If you allow fear it permeates everything you do, and we cannot be all the GOD wants us to be if we are in fear. Fear is the opposite of faith. How about YOU? Does fear have a foothold somewhere in you life?

July 22, 2012 Pastor, you were WRONG!!@
Last night at church the pastor quoted the Bible verse "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." He said that it was from Job, but I knew that he was wrong. I have no doubt that he knew that it was from Joshua 24:15, and in his speaking just said Job instead of Joshua. The ONLY reason I knew that however, was because I read and study the Bible. I put time into study and devotion. I wonder how many other people at the service caught that mistake? Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God...

Better or BEST? July 5, 2012
God has a plan for us which always is the best for our lives, but many times we rush ahead when something seems good and because of that we miss the best. One of the greatest enemies of a life of faith in God is not sin, but good choices which are NOT God's choices for us. We need to rely on God to make our choices even when we seem unsure, ASK for clarification (as it says in James) and expect Him to give you a clear direction.

Please! No More Letters!@ June 24,2012
Have you seen the movie “The Shawshank Redemption?” I have seen it many times and there is one part of the movie that moves me every time I see it. Andy, an inmate and the main character, gets a job working at the prison library. He is helping out an older man who has been there practically forever. His first day on the job he looks around the library and says to the older man “where are all the books?” The older man just shrugs and says they won’t give us anymore. Then Andy says “I am going to write a letter a week to the state until they send us some more books;” and that is just what he does. Many months later a delivery arrives at the library-boxes and boxes of books! As Andy opens the first box on top of the books is a letter which reads “Please-don’t send any more letters!” Our prayers are like those letters. Do YOU pray without ceasing as the Bible say to, or do you give up after two or three days when you think you prayer wasn’t heard? God delights in hearing from us, and unlike the movie where the state doesn’t want any more letters, NEVER tells us to stop praying. But the majority of us GIVE UP, feel defeated, and discouraged, when we should forge ahead knowing that our FAITH is what truly pleases God

“Danger Will Robinson!” June 13, 2012
Do any of you remember the television series “Lost in Space?” It was on in the late sixties and if you are my age (or older) you probably have seen it. There was a young boy in the show Will Robinson, who had a robot friend. Every time Will was about to do something dangerous the robot would come over to him, wave his arms about, and say “danger Will Robinson!”; doing all he could to prevent a possible catastrophe. I want you to know that as a Christian you also have access to that kind of help through the Holy Spirit. He guides us and directs us in the way we should go; only MOST people don’t listen to him or have suppressed His voice so much they have gotten used to ignoring it. If you want to start to hear Him better, start to obey even when what He says to do doesn’t make sense to you. Obedience will refine your hearing, put you on a better wavelength, so that when you need to hear The Holy Spirit whisper, you WILL hear.
