Congratulations to Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia violist, Brogan Brown!

Norfolk Academy's Brogan Brown is chasing a sub-16-minute 5K, but the Hampton Roads standout says his biggest goal is making a lasting impact.

The Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia would like to announce that Maestra Helen Martell has been named Music Director Emeritus in recognition of her 25 years of service to our students and families. At the 2026 Finale Concert, we honored Helen with a plaque and a special baton engraved with this new title.

This recognition is hardly enough to thank her for her dedication to this organization and the impact she has made on our students. Please help us thank Mrs. Martell - if you have any stories or fond memories, please post them here!

Last year, BYOV raised over $1,500 during Give Local 757 to support the Christina Morton Scholarship Fund. We'd like to let you know that today, Tuesday, May 5th, is the 2026 day of giving and we would love to invite you to participate this year. Donations are accepted now through tomorrow the 6th at 12.

ALL donations go to the Christina Morton Scholarship Fund, which allows us to award full and partial scholarships for students in need. Our tuition for all students is kept affordable through a growing network of donors - meaning that participating families access exceptional arts training and incredible live performance opportunities every season!

Please consider supporting students in need with your donation today.

Thank you for being a dedicated support of professional orchestral training in our region!
