🌙🐑 What a magical Feast of Sacrifice it has been! The joyous meals, enchanting Sufi Music, and fantastic company made this day truly memorable.

A heartfelt thank you to St. Martin's Episcopal Church for graciously hosting the event and providing us with a beautiful venue. We are grateful to Dr. Islam Bedir, Rabbi David Katz, and Pastor Lisa Green for their inspiring speeches, which brought us closer together in faith and unity. And a special shoutout to the incredible Sufi Melody Group for their soul-stirring performance that touched our hearts.

Feeling grateful after a heartwarming evening at the Ramadan dinner organized by the Rumi Friendship Association at St. Stephen Lutheran Church! 🕌🌙 It was a beautiful gathering where people from different faith groups came together to enjoy delicious food and foster friendships.

We started the evening with an informative introduction about Islam and the significance of Ramadan, which was a great opportunity for everyone to learn and appreciate each other's beliefs. The spirit of unity and inclusivity was truly heartwarming.

A special shout-out of thanks to Pastor Lisa Green and Pastor Jon Nelson for their efforts in organizing this event and making it a success. Your dedication and support are truly appreciated! 🙏🏼🤝

This year's 2nd iftar dinner RumiFA organized was with the Hilton Christian Church of Newport News. The hospitality of Pastor Natalie and the distinguished members of the Church is not easy to put into words, but we have enjoyed it so much.

Especially after breaking our fast while remembering the bounties of God, we shared the bread along with warm dialogues with one another... The gifts specially prepared by Reverend Natalie were exceptional. The framed photographs reflecting instances from our environment made us think how wonderful the creation of Allah is and that we should sometimes take a pause for a short moment to realize and appreciate it.

Additional thanks to Pastor Natalie for helping us to remember the One who has the most right to be remembered.
Also, we appreciate their kind donations for the families impacted by the devastating earthquake in Turkey.

Rumi Friendship Association once again thanks to Pastor Natalie and Hilton Christian Church.

Ramadan is a month of reflection, self-improvement, and spiritual growth. As we begin this holy month, let us remember the importance of generosity, kindness, and compassion towards one another. Let us use this time to reflect on our actions, seek forgiveness, and make a commitment to being better versions of ourselves.

During this month, let us also remember those who are less fortunate and may be struggling in their daily lives. Let us reach out to them with kindness, charity, and support.

May this Ramadan be a time of blessings, forgiveness, and enlightenment for all of us. Ramadan Mubarak!

Dear Friends,

We are deeply saddened by the death of thousands of people in Turkey and Syria after 7.8 magnitudes and a 7.6 M earthquake rocked southern Turkey near the Syrian border two days ago.

Rescue workers and residents search for survivors under the rubble of thousands of buildings. The death toll is increasing every minute, and the inclement weather badly affects the rescue job.

How can you help?
Please support the victims with your generous donations. We are collaborating with Embrace Relief to meet the urgent needs of the victims of the devastating Feb 6 earthquakes and to help support the rebuilding efforts of southern Turkey.

As part of the Sacred Spaces of Hampton Roads event, RumiFA and Hampton mosque hosted their distinguished guests in Hampton Mosque. Presentations about the sacred spaces of Islam, the characteristics of a mosque and salah (prayer) in general, and a brief history of the Hampton mosque were conducted.

After a short Q&A session, the participants learned more about each other by having warm conversations about the food. It was beautiful to feel the joy of sharing kindness, respect, and compassion toward each other.

We would like to invite you to The Mosque and Islamic Center of Hampton Roads on Thursday, Dec 8th, at 6:00 pm as a part of our Sacred Spaces tour cycle.
The presentation will include the holiest sites of Islam, characteristics of places of worship in Islam in general, and the Hampton mosque in particular, all from the perspective of local Muslims.
