Your support at a doctor’s visit helps your loved one feel heard, valued, and cared for.
Caregivers, a little preparation can help you and your loved one get more out of a doctor’s visit. πŸ’™

When you go to a doctor’s visit with a loved one, you can do more than provide a ride. You can help make sure important questions get answered and nothing gets overlooked.

πŸ“ Before the visit: Talk with your loved one about their concerns. Write down questions, note any changes in their health, and bring a current list of medications.

πŸ‘‚ During the visit: Listen, take notes, and speak up if something is unclear. Give your loved one the chance to answer questions and share their concerns, too.

βœ… After the visit: Review the doctor’s instructions together. Make sure you both understand the next steps, and contact the office if questions come up later.

One of the best things you can do as a caregiver is be prepared, be a good listener, and be a teammate. Support your loved one’s voice while helping them get the most out of their care!

β˜• Coffee, conversation, and community!

Today, our Coffee & Chat brought new and current volunteers together for a chance to get to know one another, ask questions, share experiences, and reflect on the impact of their volunteer efforts over the past year.

Our directors also shared more ways to get involved, helping volunteers discover new opportunities to make a difference in the lives of older adults in our service areas.

We’re grateful for the time, care, and compassion our volunteers bring to our community. Thank you for being part of a team that helps older adults stay independent, healthy, and engaged! πŸ’™

It's Your Health! It's Important to Speak Up! πŸ’™

Have you ever left a doctor's appointment wishing you'd asked one more question? You're not alone! Good communication helps you feel more confident about your health and care.

Here are 3 simple ways to make talking with your healthcare provider easier:

πŸ“ Prepare ahead. Write down your questions before your appointment so you don't forget what matters to you.

πŸ’¬ Speak up. If something isn't clear, ask your doctor to explain it another way. It's okay to ask questions!

🀝 Bring support. A trusted friend or family member can help you take notes and remember important information.

You deserve to understand your health and your care. Asking questions is an important part of taking care of yourself!
