From awesome inflatable decorations (like this monster truck below🚚) to all the spooky touches that make Halloween special, our community has helped us bring this FREE event to life.

We still need one important thing: candy and treats for our trick-or-treaters! 🍬🍫

🌻 Meet our Sunflower Award winners!

You may have heard of the DAISY Awards, a national program recognizing nurses. At St. Mary’s Home, our team created the Sunflower Awards to celebrate the incredible nonclinical support staff who help make our mission possible every day.

We had many deserving nominees, and three outstanding team members were selected as winners:
🌻 Zebadiah Alexander – Food Service Worker
🌻 Johnnese Jones-Sykes – Nursing Administrative Coordinator
🌻 Memuri Domingue – Recreational Specialist (not pictured)

After-school clubs make us smile REALLY BIG!

Music club turned artwork into song using a tool called Unspoken Symphony. 🎶 Each child pressed a button that activated a spinner, selecting a genre of music. They made artwork based on their genre and uploaded it to Unspoken Symphony, which turned their art into a unique song!

For this Wednesday’s Accessible Adventures, we’re throwing it back to a sweet activity our residents enjoyed: making homemade ice cream! 💙

✨ The Albero House spent a morning under the stars!

The residents of Albero House recently took a trip to the Chesapeake Planetarium for an afternoon of exploring and learning. 💙

Getting a large group out into the community takes a lot of planning, preparation, and teamwork from our staff, but seeing our residents enjoy new experiences and make memories makes every bit of the effort worth it.

A big thank you to the Chesapeake Planetarium for welcoming us and helping make this experience possible! ✨

⛳ Adaptive tee-off in action at the Kids Cup Tournament!

You may be wondering, "What in the world is happening?" 😆 Our golfers took on the challenge of trying out an adaptive tee-off device created by our Recreational Therapy team. It took a little practice, but they did a great job learning how someone with limited mobility might experience the game.

We’re proud of our team for finding creative ways to make more experiences accessible to the young people we serve! 💙

One of the coolest new additions to our golf tournament last week was an adaptive tee-off experience! ⛳️

Our Recreational Therapy team created a putting device out of PVC pipe that demonstrates how someone with limited mobility could still golf.

With the simple push of a lever, golfers can swing the club and send the ball rolling toward the hole. 💙

Just another example of our RT team finding creative ways to make activities accessible and fun for everyone!
