The Fred Heutte Garden is a public garden, education center and event rental space located in the historic Ghent neighborhood of Norfolk, Virginia. Come See Us!

It's a great place to visit, volunteer, take a class or celebrate a special occasion. For over 30 years, the Fred Heutte Center - at the intersection of Westover Avenue and Botetourt Gardens in the historic Ghent community of Norfolk, Virginia - has been the focal point of the Friends of Fred Heutte Foundation whose members work to continue Mr. Heutte's wish to enrich our community by sharing his ideals of urban beautification through horticultural education.

This Saturday a free children’s event Fred Heutte Garden . We’re going to paint rocks and then glitter them, or embellish them or go modern minimal . There’s no wrong way to paint a rock and they make delightful gifts to share or keep. We have paint smocks for the children but be sure to dress in something you don’t mind getting paint on. Registration on the website is free. We require one adult per two children. Come join us for a fun, creative morning and leave with some magical stones. We will have some rocks prepainted for our littlest friends that they can easily decorate. See you soon!!! n

🌈 Once Upon A Garden Returns This August! 🌈
Join us for another magical morning at Fred Heutte Garden on Saturday, August 15 at 10:00 AM for our free Once Upon A Garden children’s program!
We’ll begin with a fun story time, then everyone will create their very own colorful garden rock to take home or display in the garden. After crafting, we’ll head outside to explore, play, and enjoy all the beauty the garden has to offer.
Designed especially for Norfolk’s preschoolers and early elementary-aged children, Once Upon A Garden is always free, but registration is required so we can prepare supplies. Register on our website.
A reminder that one adult is required for every two children attending.
Donations are always appreciated and help us continue offering these free family programs while growing new opportunities for Norfolk’s youngest gardeners.
We can’t wait to share another morning of stories, creativity, and garden adventures with you! 🌿📚🪨💚

Team Fred has been showing up and making it shine!!! Come join our laid back, kind hearted group for some outdoor gym work and more relaxed happenings. Come get some fresh air, have a sauna in the heat, and make a real difference in Norfolk’s Urban Garden. Tools and gloves provided. Snacks and drinks too! Every Saturday and Wednesday from 8-11. 💚💚💚💚
