At our meeting on Saturday, Feb 4th we'll be discussing ceramics; how to choose the correct pot for your bonsai. Our member Kathleen will be sharing information on the traditional Japanese shapes of bonsai. We'll also discuss best practices for bringing trees out of winter storage and how to prepare a tree for exhibit. And we'll sharpen our design skills by analyzing several "pre-bonsai" to determine how to style each tree.
Our meeting begins promptly at 9:30 at Greenbrier Church, 1101 Volvo Pkwy in Chesapeake. Visitors are always welcome.

The November meeting will be this Saturday, Nov 5th, at Greenbriar Church, 1101 Volvo Pkwy in Chesapeake.
Our topics will include preparing our trees for winter storage, how to compost with worms, the semi-cascade style of bonsai, and our feature species will be Alligator Juniper.
Meeting starts at 9:30. Visitors are welcome!

Coming Oct 1, our regular monthly meeting at Greenbrier Church, 1101 Volvo Parkway in Chesapeake. Visitors welcome.
This month we'll be looking at the Chinese Hackberry as a species for bonsai, discussing how to plan a forest planting and prepare trees for this type of display.
We'll also have our annual "Dog Tree Exchange" where you can trade anything bonsai related. Think of it as a bonsai garage sale with trees, books, ceramics, tools...you never know what will be available. If you are new to the hobby and don't have something you are tired of don't worry, we'll have extra 'dogs' so you can still participate.

This Saturday (9-3) we will have our monthly meeting at Greenbrier Church, 1101 Volvo Pkwy in Chesapeake. Visitors are welcome.
We will have a presentation on Bald Cypress as a bonsai species. Also a demonstration on creating a "raft" style bonsai. Dr. Karl Horak will be joining us via Zoom to discuss plant physiology. We also have a tree that has been gifted to the club, and we will discuss how to best strengthen it for future styling.

Our meeting on September 3rd will be a busy one. Dr. Karl Horak will be joining us via Zoom from Albuquerque and discussing plant physiology.
Our focus species of the month is bald cypress, and we'll discuss how to create a raft style bonsai. We'll also look at various methods to combat fungus and pests as we prepare our trees for their fall growth spurt.
As always, we'll have our monthly care guide.
The meeting starts at 9:30, and visitors are welcome. We meet at Greenbrier Church, 1101 Volvo Parkway, Chesapeake.

Our members only brunch that was scheduled for August 6th has been moved to the 13th.
Our September meeting will be as usual, on the first Saturday of the month, the 3rd, at Greenbrier Church, 1101 Volvo Pkwy in Chesapeake. Visitors are always welcome!

With the 4th of July holiday falling on Monday, we have moved our regular monthly meeting from Saturday the 2nd to Saturday July 9th. We meet at Greenbrier Church, 1101 Volvo Pkwy in Chesapeake at 9:30 am. Visitors are always welcome.

The March meeting will include a discussion on how to build a bonsai forest. This is to prepare for our forest creation workshop on March 20th. We'll also look at Witch Hazel as a bonsai species.
