Every York Rite Mason’s journey builds toward something. The Chapter teaches the Royal Arch, the Council adds the Cryptic degrees — and then there’s the Commandery of Knights Templar, the Christian, chivalric order that represents the summit of the teachings of the Craft for the Christian Freemason.

Membership is open only to Royal Arch Masons who promise to defend the Christian faith  — a reminder that this isn’t just history and ritual, it’s a living commitment to Faith, Valor, and service.

Roof collapsed, walls crumbling, moss claiming what was once sacred stone—and still, one beam of light finds him kneeling exactly where he's supposed to be.

What you build in faith outlasts what time tries to tear down.

The Knights Templar Sword ⚔️

A straight double-edged blade with a cross-shaped hilt — built for battle, but shaped for prayer. Today it’s ceremonial, but the meaning hasn’t changed: faith, courage, and honor before all else. ✝️⚔️ IHSV

Within the York Rite, the Knights Templar represent the most solemn journey a Mason can take — moving beyond craft and companionship into the realm of Christian chivalric orders. Rooted in centuries of tradition, the modern Knights Templar (like our own Grice Commandery No. 16) aren't about swords and castles. They're about what those symbols point to: courage, charity, and unwavering faith.

Today's Templar stands for:
🛡️ Valor—the courage to defend what's right, even when it's difficult
✝️ Faith—a Christian order dedicated to charitable works and moral conviction
🤝 Service—supporting brothers, communities and causes larger than ourselves
⚖️ Honor—living by a code, not just reciting one

To wear the Templar cross isn't about nostalgia for medieval knighthood — it's a daily commitment to be the kind of man who shows up when it counts.
