Project update: we realized that we had supply chain issues with our first choice for the bench, meaning that they will not be available in time for the project. Fortunately, the sponsor had provided a list of other choices for the bench, and we are now going with bench option 2.

The good news is that the new bench is significantly larger, made of eucalyptus wood and has a 400lb weight capacity. The downside is that the new benches cost about $180 each instead of $150 each.

Bench dims are 57 inches long and 22 inches wide.

Hello and thank you for visiting my page!

For my Eagle Scout Service Project, I will be placing benches and planting flowers at the CHKD main hospital campus in Norfolk, VA. This is a project that benefits my community and will ultimately lead me to getting the Eagle Scout Award; the highest honor a scout can make within Scouts BSA.

The CHKD main campus helps children with serious medical problems like cancer. The campus has an area outside for families to walk around and visit. Because of COVID restrictions, families are not able to visit the sick children in their rooms, and they use this outside area a lot. My project will enhance the area that the children and their families have to visit outside.

My plan is to have the money and materials together by mid February. I need to raise roughly $400 for the benches, flowers, gloves and lunch for all of the lovely volunteers.
