ODU Exercise Science Society

ODU Exercise Science Society ESS is the Exercise Science majors club for resume building and practical experience.

The ESS is a student run organization with two goals, exposing students to research and building resumes. Our goal for research is to allow students the opportunity to learn more about different pieces of lab equipment available for testing human subjects and to encourage participation in research as both a primary and/or assistant researcher. Resume building is accomplished through experience as

a researcher, certifications (CPR, NSCA-CSCS, etc.), conference attendance-ship (SEACSM, NSCA-TSAC), organization membership (ACSM, NSCA), and research grants (ODU honors college). All these things are lines you can place on your resume to set yourself apart from the crowd when applying for grad school (MS, PhD, PT, OT, PA), med school, and employment opportunities. Undergraduate lab experience as a researcher may help you get a graduate assistantship which can pay for your graduate degree.
