Single parents… remember when summer meant being outside, kids running around, food on the grill, and friends pulling up chairs to catch up?

That’s the feeling we’re creating at SPARC in the Park.

It’s a place where children can play, parents can relax, conversations happen naturally, and community is built one gathering at a time.

There is no pressure. No agenda. It’s simply good food, good people, and a reminder that single doesn’t mean alone.

If you’ve been looking for a place where your family can simply show up and belong, we’d love to have you join us.

This is especially for you single parents. Welcome to SPARC!

Bring the kids. Bring a friend. Bring yourself.

The slides in this video were created with AI. The words were not.

Every quote came directly from one of our Motel to Home moms after moving into stable housing. Nothing was rewritten or made up.

“Now that we have a home, my kids can enjoy being kids again.”

That’s what housing stability sounds like.

Motels are more than statistics. Each room holds the story of a family trying to hold life together.

This is Brianna’s story. And like so many of the families we serve, what she needed wasn’t judgment. She needed a chance. With the support of United Way of Greater Atlanta, we were able to give her that.

This is Motel to Home.
This is what we do.

Ask us how you can help.

Single does not mean alone.

Before entering SPARC’s Motel to Home program, Brianna and her two children were living in a motel after previously living in an apartment. For Brianna, the hardest part was “the uncertainty of being homeless and keeping my kids in the same school zone.”

After 30 days in a motel, Brianna received the call from SPARC.

“When I got the call from SPARC, I felt a relief because I needed help.”

Now, Brianna and her children are moving into a stable home of their own. While she knows starting over will not be easy, she sees this new beginning as a chance to move forward differently.

“Moving into our own home for the first time will be hard because we are starting over, but I can build a strong foundation going forward.”

For Brianna, housing stability means her children can finally “enjoy being kids again.” It also means she can “stop worrying and move forward” and “finally feel safe.”

Brianna says Motel to Home helped her “gain a stable house,” and she believes the biggest change for her family will be “us working together as a team.”

She would like to thank SPARC and United Way of Greater Atlanta “for the opportunity to give my kids their freedom back.”

To another family still living in a motel, Brianna says:
“God hears your cry and don’t give up.”

And to others, she wants people to remember:
“Don’t be quick to judge anybody actions when you don’t know the choices.”

Single doesn’t mean alone.

She was working full-time and still spending most of her income just to keep her children in one hotel room.

Our DeKalb County study found families living in extended-stay hotels spend nearly 77% of their income just trying to survive. Families are paying higher than housing prices for instability.

For her children, this meant one room, uncertainty, and now place to truly settle in.

But this is no longer her story.

Today, she and her children are in a home of their own. They now have a safe place to rest, heal, and move forward.

This is what Motel to Home does. This is what you help make possible.

Thank you for helping us remind single parents that single doesn’t mean alone.

We’re not bragging… but SPARC Bingo kinda knocked it out of the park. Literally! (You know we love a good pun.)

What started as a simple game turned into exactly what SPARC in the Park is supposed to be about: connection.

Single parents walked in not knowing each other and left exchanging numbers, making plans, laughing, talking about their kids, and realizing just how much they actually had in common. Some found people who live nearby. Some connected over shared experiences. Some just got a chance to breathe, relax, and enjoy being around people who get it.

We talk a lot about the challenges single parents face because those challenges are real. Housing. Finances. Childcare. Stress. Isolation. The list can feel endless sometimes. But yesterday was also a reminder that not every need has to be solved with something huge.

Sometimes building your village really is as simple as a day at the park, a game of bingo, kids playing on the playground, and a really good hot dog.

That’s what SPARC in the Park is about. Creating spaces where single parents and their children can build real community and realize they don’t have to do life alone.

Single doesn’t mean alone.
