National Association of Nigerian Nurse Practitioners -GEORGIA (NANNPU-GA) is a non-profit (501(c)3 professional organization of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) of Nigerian origin resident in the United States of America. NANNPU-GA is a chapter of the national entity for these indigenous advanced practitioners who have acquired a minimum of a Master’s degree in their different practice specialties.

Nurse Practitioner Week is celebrated November 10–16, 2024 in recognition of 385, 000 of us. This year’s theme is “At the Heart of Health Care.”Can you believe that the nurse practitioner profession has been in existence for 56 years now? It is an immense honor and privilege for me to be a part of an amazing profession. Whether you work in a solo clinic or a big organization with multi-professionals, I hope you take a moment to celebrate yourselves. The US President recently acknowledged the dedication and essential contributions of nurse practitioners (NPs) nationwide. In his message, he expressed deep appreciation for NPs’ role in providing high-quality healthcare, especially in underserved areas, and emphasized their importance in strengthening America’s healthcare system. This recognition highlights the critical impact NPs have on patient care, especially amid healthcare challenges and workforce shortages.

I wish each of you my NANNPU colleagues a very Happy Nurse Practitioner Week! I’m so grateful to associate with such talented, compassionate, and dedicated professionals. Your resilience and commitment to our patients make a difference every day. Let’s continue to uplift and support each other as we provide the best care possible. Here’s to us and all the lives we touch. Thank you for all you do!
