Our mission is to prevent childhood drowning through community outreach and education, water safety swim lesson programs and swim scholarships to those who are less fortunate. The Childhood Drowning Prevention Foundation was founded in 2015, first as Big Kahuna Swim Academy and today has evolved into a multi-faceted non-profit with a mission to prevent childhood drowning through community outreach

🌊 I'm hiring — and I want to tell you why.

In 2005, I lost a classmate named Arturo. He drowned one week before graduating high school. That loss never left me — it's why I spent the last decade building Big Kahuna Swim Academy and the Childhood Drowning Prevention Foundation.

We teach children the water safety skills that save their lives. 800+ lessons a month. Norco and Riverside.

I'm building my team, and I need good people — flexible, mission-minded, and willing to do whatever the work requires. That might mean teaching swim lessons, answering phones, supporting me directly, or handling day-to-day operations.

I don't hire for résumés. I hire for character.

🌊💙 May is Childhood Drowning Prevention Month 💙🌊

This May 2026, the Childhood Drowning Prevention Foundation is proud to partner with the Corona Fire Department and the Corona Firefighters Association to officially recognize Childhood Drowning Prevention Month in our community.

Drowning is the #1 cause of death for children under the age of 5—and it happens fast, silent, and without warning.

But the truth is: it’s preventable.

Throughout the month, we’re coming together to raise awareness, educate families, and equip our community with the tools needed to save lives.
