Spring's just around the corner and we're only about a month away from mowing season starting back up. That means it's time to remove any items from gravesites that do not adhere to our cemetery rules and regulations concerning grave decorations. Examples of items that need to be removed are plaques, figurines, vases, small wire-based decorations, wreaths, artificial flowers, wooden/plastic crosses, solar/battery lights, etc. Keep in mind these are just examples and not meant to be an all-inclusive list. The rule of thumb is that if the object is in the way of trimming, it needs to be removed so that it doesn’t get torn up by the string trimmers. Heavy gaged metal shepherds’ hooks, etc. will be allowed to remain, but they need to be placed as close to the stone as possible. In addition to removing ALL items placed around a headstone, any items sitting on a headstone must be affixed (glued) to the stone so that they do not get blown off by the blowers used to blow off grass clippings or by other high wind events. These efforts not only help to reduce the mowing and trimming labor expenses, but it also helps to protect headstones from being damaged by flying debris when a mower or string trimmer hits one of these objects in the grass.
Any items not removed by end of day Friday, 3/24/23 will be removed and disposed of.
We would like to thank all of you for your cooperation in this matter. It greatly contributed to the lawn crew's ability to keep our cemetery looking very nice in 2022 and we look forward to the same in 2023.
