🏀💙💛 **WE NEED YOUR HELP, HAMILTON COUNTY!**

Special Olympics Hamilton County has a new basketball athlete joining us this season who is Deaf, and we are looking for a volunteer ASL interpreter or someone fluent in American Sign Language who would be willing to help during practices and games!

And here's why this matters.

We want this athlete to have every opportunity to learn, compete, communicate with his coaches and teammates, build friendships, and enjoy the game. Just like everyone else.

We also want his family to be able to sit in the stands, cheer him on, and simply enjoy watching him play. Not have to take on the responsibility of interpreting for him.

Because THIS is what inclusion should look like. ❤️

Inclusion isn't about asking people to adapt to everything around them. It's about creating an environment where everyone has the same opportunities to participate, belong, and be their very best without having to ask for access.

So, who do you know? ASL interpreters, students, educators, or community members who sign? We would love to find a volunteer, but recommendations and connections are just as welcome!

Please message me or email **[email protected]**.

Belonging shouldn't require someone to ask for it.💙💛

To continue celebrating Disability Employment Awareness Month, we want to highlight one of our workforce development partners: Carter's Play Place.

"Carter’s Play Place is an indoor playground that inspires connection by embracing inclusive play for all kids! We are committed to creating a great atmosphere for both children and adults to be themselves in a warm and supportive environment...founded by Adam Meents and his partners with the vision of having a fun place where kids like his son Carter, who has Autism, would feel welcomed and included. LEL Home Services acquired Carter’s Play Place in 2019. During the pandemic, they used that time to purchase a bigger building and renovate it to expand the original vision of Carter’s. In addition to the three themed party rooms, an investment was made in more adaptive play equipment, including a 2-story play structure and foam pit, while keeping previous favorites like the trampoline and zipline."

Looking for a more sensory friendly experience? Calmer Carter’s is available by request on Tuesday evenings. Visit cartersplayplace.com to learn more!
