Wildtracks Update: Watch out for Belize's Monkeys...

With high temperatures, fires raging in forests across Belize, and reports of howler monkeys dying of heat exhaustion in Mexico, we would ask those of you living in Belize to watch out for monkeys in need of help.

What can you do?

Call or message Forest Belize Forest Department or Wildtracks if you see monkeys in distress, monkeys displaced by fires and ending up in communities where they are at threat from dogs, slingshots and cars...contact us for guidance on the best steps to take depending on the situation.

Conservation work takes a lot of effort and patience...Unfortunately the remaining cams had to be retrieved today to prevent them from being stolen. About 2 weeks ago 5 cameras were stolen at Coastal Manatee Conservation Group private conservation area called Zona Magica. The cameras had vital data for Belize Wild Cats research. We will continue to work hand in hand to have more presence and surveillance in the area in the near future. If you wish to donate for signs feel free to reach out to Coastal Manatee Conservation Group or Belize Wild Cats or donate directly from our websites www.belizeconservation.com belizewildcats.com. Thank you in advance!
