We’ll be electing new board memebers for next school year.

Dear PTO Members and Incoming Junior High Parents,

As we come to the end of an amazing year it is time for our last PTO meeting of the year. We know this is a busy time of year to try to fit in yet another thing but we hope that many of you will be able to join us. The meeting will be held on May 21 at 3:00PM in the Junior High commons area. Elections will be held at the beginning of the meeting due to administration needing to leave to set up for another school activity.

During this meeting, we will be electing new board members for the upcoming school year. The positions currently up for election are President and Treasurer. We encourage all who are interested in these roles or who wish to participate in the voting process to attend.
The PTO at the junior high is proud to support the teachers and students throughout the year in a variety of ways.

Yearly support of students:
*Booth at Eaglepalooza
*Support for the Student Council Dances if requested
*Provide activities and snacks for 8th grade celebration
*Skate nights
*Provide support for teacher requested events such as Outsiders Day
*Provide start up funds for special education snack cart to provide real life hands on skills such as taking and filling orders, interacting with customers and counting change.

Yearly support for teachers:
*Treat days
*Teacher appreciations week
*Yearly fundraiser for special project: this year new furniture for the library, last year new flooring for the science classrooms, 2 years ago new teacher workroom
*Building needs: new ice machine for the nurses office for ice packs and other needs, new calculators for math teachers for student use, new microwaves for the lunchroom for student use, fan for the teacher workroom, teacher requested items to support classroom learning.
*Volunteer support for book fair

Our support is approved and directed by the administration. It is the belief that support provided to both students and teachers benefits everyone in the building. While we are always happy to help support the students we believe that happy and well supported teachers provide an environment that allows students to thrive.

If you are interested in filling one of the available positions we would love for you to send an email with a little bit about yourself and why you want to hold a position on the board so that we can provide information to those in attendance about interested candidates.

The final stop of the week was baggage claim. Sonic drinks and baggage were delivered throughout the building. It has been an amazing week showing our teachers and staff just how much we appreciate them. Thank you to everyone who donated items from the sign-up genius and helped make it a week to remember.

The next stop on our appreciation travels is Europe! A snack of croissants and macarons topped off with sparkling soda or sparkling lemonade with sonic ice and an assortment of flavors, and of course, a splash of cream if desired. We have enjoyed traveling the world with our teachers and staff this week and hope they know just how much they are appreciated.

Teacher Appreciation has landed in Hawaii for a feast of pulled pork and pulled chicken sliders with potato salad, a variety of fruits, salad, and snacks. The incredible meat was catered from Uptown Hog, and buns, a good portion of the fruit, and some drinks were generously donated by the Nixa Walmart.

Teacher Appreciation week has arrived in New York, kicking off a morning of delight. The district provided a Panera feast and the PTO brought the excitement and Scooter's coffee. We hope that the teachers are fueled up to face the day with a smile and maybe take the opportunity to take a picture with their FRIENDS!
