SATURDAY GAMES START TOMORROW! ⚽️💛

08U–14U take the field at Damon Garcia tomorrow, Saturday, September 19! Before you head out, swipe through for a few important reminders:

❤️🌊 KNOW YOUR SIDE
Home teams use the North or East sideline.
Away teams use the South or West sideline.
Look for the colored field markings shown on the map.

🚗 PARKING MATTERS
Please follow the parking map carefully. Parking is available in the designated areas shown in purple.
• SESLOC parking is available only after 1:00 PM
• Never park in the SESLOC ATM spaces
• No parking in the Marigold Shopping Center at any time — even if you shop there

Please be kind to our volunteer parking monitors and SLO Parks & Rec staff. They’re helping us stay compliant with the terms of our Use Permit so we can continue using these fields.

AYSO 599 NEEDS YOU — NOT TO COACH!

Love spreadsheets?
Good with technology?
Great at organizing people?
Comfortable ordering supplies?
Actually enjoy filling out permit applications?
Good at social media?
Or maybe you just have a few hours to give once in a while?

We have a job for you.

AYSO Region 599 serves more than 1,300 players, and there is a tremendous amount of work that happens behind the scenes to make a soccer season possible.

We’re working to change the idea that volunteering for AYSO leadership means taking on an enormous second job.

It shouldn’t.

Instead, we’re breaking the work of running our Region into smaller, manageable volunteer roles so that more people can each take responsibility for one piece.

Some roles take a few hours a year.
Some are seasonal.
Some are short-term projects.
Some can be done almost entirely from home.
And many require zero soccer knowledge.

We’re looking for people interested in everything from registration, technology and social media to fields, equipment, volunteer coordination, Division leadership and Regional leadership — plus people who simply want to help with an occasional event.

Submitting our interest form does NOT commit you to a position. Tell us what you’re good at, what interests you, and how much time you’re comfortable giving, and we’ll see if there’s a role that fits.

You don’t have to do everything. We just need more people willing to do something.

⚽ ON THE WAITLIST? DON’T WAIT TO REGISTER. ⚽

A quick explanation of how AYSO waitlists work:

Being on the waitlist does not mean your child won’t play. It simply means we currently need more coaches before we can add additional players and teams.

Here’s how spots open:

✅ Parents on the waitlist volunteer to coach
✅ Families already registered volunteer to coach
✅ Additional teams are formed
✅ Players are moved off the waitlist in registration order

In some cases, a single new coach opens a few spots. In other cases, enough coaches volunteer that we can create an entirely new team and move a large group of players off the waitlist at once.

This process happens manually, so thank you for your patience as we work through registrations.

If your division is waitlisted:

1️⃣ Register anyway and claim your place in line.
2️⃣ Volunteer to coach if you’re able.
3️⃣ Encourage friends and family to volunteer.

Last season we were able to get every player onto a team, and that’s our goal again this year.

⚽ Every coach creates opportunities for more kids to play ⚽️

⚽ MORE SPOTS ADDED for 07U, 08U & 09U BOYS!⚽

We’ve opened additional player spots in these divisions — but we NEED COACHES to continue building teams.

AYSO 599 is a 100% volunteer-run organization, and the number of teams we can form depends directly on the number of approved coaches.

No soccer or coaching experience is required — we provide training and support!

Head Coaches choose their team’s practice day/time, and Assistant Coaches are always needed too.

Waitlisted does NOT mean “out.” It means we need more volunteer coaches. ⚽💛

AYSO is a volunteer-run program, and team spots are directly tied to the number of adults willing to step up and coach. As more coaches register, we are able to pull more players OFF the waitlist — in order.

If your division is waitlisted:
✅ Join the waitlist immediately
✅ Encourage friends and family to volunteer
✅ Consider coaching yourself — especially in the younger divisions!

Last year, we cleared nearly every waitlist and got almost every player onto the field. This year, our goal is simple: no kids left behind.

If you’ve been thinking about volunteering, now is the time. We provide training, support, and plenty of encouragement along the way.

Balanced teams. Better games.

At AYSO, teams are formed to create fair, competitive matchups so every player has the opportunity to grow, contribute, and enjoy the game.

No “super teams.” Just great soccer, strong competition, and meaningful development for every player.

For Fall 2026, we will not be forming school-based teams or collecting teammate requests (outside of 06U). This helps us create balanced teams and gives players the chance to build new friendships across our community.
