On May 26th, Nipomo FFA took 6 Project Competition participants to the Santa Barbara Sectional Project Competition Banquet. These students were able to showcase their Supervised Agricultural Experiences through interviews, and in-person presentations. We are so proud of all 6 of these members, and we can't wait to see what comes next! See how it went below! 📣⚡️

This weekend, Nipomo FFA brought our Nursery/ Landscape team to the State CDE finals hosted by Cal Poly. We are proud to announce that our very own Nursery/Landscape team bought back the State Champion title and a shiny silver bowl! 🪴🏆 We are so proud of all four of these members, and we wish them luck as they compete at the national Nursery/Landscape competition in Indianopolis, Indiana this fall!

Nipomo FFA also brought our floral design team to the Cal Poly SLO State Finals. This team went through an intensive, and challenging process to even compete at State Finals, having to be one of the top placing teams in knowledge portion, which includes flower/plant/material identification, a knowledge test, and judging classes. Here they placed 5th. This is how they did beyond that:

⚡️PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE RECAP⚡️

This year we had 10 members come together to try the Parliamentary Procedure contest. Although most of them have never competed in in this competition they worked hard all season in the advanced division! 🎉

In this contest students must simulate an FFA meeting where they are required to to make 2 motions and 4 debates. There are 5 members of an assembly that work to introduce and discuss new business while a single chairman controls the flow of the meeting.

We are so proud of all of them for making it this far! They all did so well and it is clear that all their hard work has paid off, they’ve all grown so much! This year we had two people move on to the finals for their contest, with those being Tyler Korsberg and Emma Uclaray!

This weekend also had the Fresno CDE Field Day! We had three teams – Farm Power, Floral Design, and Livestock Judging – come compete to represent Nipomo.

For Farm Power this was their state finals contest. With this contest teams of 3 compete by troubleshooting and operating large farm equipment and vehicles and are testing on their knowledge of the industry. The 3 members that competed were Garrett Johnson (7th High Individual), Adrian Cardenas, and Anthony Saores. This team worked hard all season and ended off as the 7th High team in the state.

Our annual spring drive-thru BBQ is taking place THIS THURSDAY, April 23rd! We will not be accepting grey tickets, make sure the ones you have ready to hand in are PINK. You can have a student trade them out with an advisor. These tickets must be present to receive your meal. The line will start on Titan Way and go through the bus loading zone!
