Chicago Jazz Orchestra Founded in 1978, The Chicago Jazz Orchestra is Chicago’s oldest continuously operating professional jazz orchestra.

The late, great trumpeter and educator Clark Terry called the Chicago Jazz Orchestra “The best big band in the country." Founded in 1978 by Jeff Lindberg and the late Steve Jensen, the Members Only Big Band now the Chicago Jazz Orchestra salutes all distinquished musicians and guest artists for over 40 years of excellent music in Chicago

Here's to a night we won't soon forget! We wrapped up our 2026 Jazz Showcase Summer Residency with the one and only Kurt Elling. Thanks to all the superbly talented guest artists from the last three months, the wonderful Jazz Showcase staff, the incredible musicians of the CJO, and of course all of you in the audience.
