Camp Worker Wanted - 1 month experience at Salvation Mountain
Have you ever dreamed of stepping away from the ordinary and spending a month somewhere truly extraordinary?
Salvation Mountain is looking for an individual or couple to join us for approximately one month in October 2026.
This is an opportunity to live in the desert, meet visitors from around the world, become part of the Salvation Mountain community, and help care for one of California’s most unique works of art, faith, devotion, and love.
What You’ll Do
As a short-term docent/camp worker, you’ll help welcome and interact with visitors, share the story and spirit of Salvation Mountain, and assist with the ongoing care and maintenance of the site.
Every day brings something different - travelers from across the country and around the world, artists, photographers, curious adventurers, and people simply looking for a place that inspires them.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Warm, friendly, dependable, and comfortable meeting people from all walks of life
* Interested in art, museums, history, community, or unique cultural experiences
* Willing to live simply and embrace the desert environment
* Comfortable helping with both visitor interaction and practical site needs
* Passionate about helping preserve and share this incredible work
Experience in museums, galleries, art, education, or visitor services is a plus. A good attitude, willingness to help, and genuine appreciation for what Salvation Mountain represents are just as important.
Ideally, you’ll have your own camper/RV and be prepared for the realities of desert living.
A minimal weekly stipend is provided.
More Than a Job
This isn’t a typical seasonal job. It’s a chance to slow down, live simply, meet remarkable people, experience the desert, and contribute to a place unlike anywhere else.**
For the right person, this one-month experience could potentially become a longer-term opportunity, depending on the candidate and the ongoing needs of the site.
If the idea of spending October at Salvation Mountain speaks to you, we’d love to hear from you.

Come be part of the story.❤️
