The Old Poor Farm operates on four acres in Dodge County, Nebraska on the historical original homestead site of the Dodge County Poor Farm. Once a home for people in need has now become a no-kill refuge for abused, unwanted and handicapped creatures.

I remember when we met the Dodge County Deputy on a neglect case and brought this guy home with a trailer load of mixed animals. He was mired in mud up to his belly in a dog crate next to a shed. No food, shelter or water. He was so caked with mud we had no idea what color he was. That was nearly a decade ago and he's boss of the geese now. What a pretty splash color!
