Thanks y’all for the loving concern and prayers for our Eastern Kentucky neighbors, family and friends affected and displaced by the catastrophic floods.

I am in contact with the Lexington Fire Captain and he is trying to find First Responders going to Eastern KY. I have quite a few personal friends that left yesterday and today but that was for the clean up relief effort. I have been tirelessly trying to call all the numbers for Whitesburg MCHC because their medical clinic just opened up 17 hours ago and they have an OBGYN Clinic. I haven’t given up though.

We are just now able to get a grasp of how to help with the relief efforts and our specialty items that are for the Babies in need! It has been raining a lot all over Kentucky and we all must stay vigilant of our own possible flood conditions, thankfully my family and I are fine as we are in Central Kentucky, although we have almost been flooded out a few times in the past.

For the first couple days there was no way to go in to the flooded areas of Eastern Kentucky because in fact the National Guard was tirelessly helicoptering folks out. People were frantically trying to locate their loved ones but there was no phone service - I am still experiencing no phone service to the numbers I’m calling there. As the roads started opening up I’ve had several amazing friends load up their cars with water, food, cleaning supplies, soaps and clothes and personally head into Eastern Kentucky to deliver them. However, as Director of the only Kentucky Chapter of Newborns in Need National Office, I am cautioned to be more prudent with our supplies because I don’t want our Baby specific items to get lost in the crisis situation.

On that note, I do appreciate my fellow Newborns In Need Leaders for reaching out to me to provide more supplies for Eastern KY! And I appreciate my Volunteers and the public for all your loving concerns and prayers; and a special gratitude to all our Partners who not only continually support our mission but who in times of crisis like this exceptionally rise to the occasion! Thank you! All of this to say, I should hear something from the Lex Fire Captain soon, he’s the same gentleman who delivered all our donations to the Mayfield Tornado victims in Dec. 2021.

I will keep y’all posted. Blessings,
Joanne Hope Skiles Couch

I got a moment with some of our Kentucky National Guard members who have been air-lifting people. I am so proud of them, the Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, local first responders and individual citizens. This isn't just Kentuckians helping Kentuckians – they are saving lives.

Thank y’all for the great outpouring of Love, Likes, Encouraging Words and Support for our nonprofit Newborns in Need National Office. ❤️⚡️❤️

Sometimes the work can be challenging but when you help out families who are in dire need they are always so thankful ❤️ And so the amazing reward is that you made a difference in a family’s life, at a time when they may feel they are alone and waiting for the paperwork from social services to go through. This really is our mission to help families care for their Newborns in the important first few months of their lives. And you can help too because we always need Volunteers of time, treasure and talents, plus we do have fun!! ❤️

Listen here at this link as our CEO Sam Safrit, and President Connie Edwards talk more in depth about our nonprofit’s mission. I am honored to work alongside Sam for he is an amazing 82nd Airborne Veteran and Inventor - actually holding several pattens for Hanes. This is where Sam and Connie met when Connie was in Marketing for Hanes for 25+ years. I worked with Connie in 2020 when Hanes partnered with me on my Navajo Nation Covid-19 Relief Fund t-shirt campaign https://kyforky.com/products/navajo-nation-baseball-tee ❤️🌎❤️

I work with amazing big-hearted, old school “Influencers” and in this day of social media it is a cherished honor learning from some of the industry’s best who help lead the way to the future. Please give a listen to find out more how you can help nationwide or right here in Kentucky with me for our Newborns in need! ❤️👶🏾👶🏼👶🏿👶🏽👶🏻❤️

We believe the world would be a much better place if we helped each other thrive.

As a parent or caregiver, you know how much it means to be seen, acknowledged, and supported when you need it most. Whether it’s someone giving you a reassuring smile when you’re overwhelmed with a crying baby in public or a fellow parent who shares their latest tip to help your life be a little calmer and easier.

Parenthood is hard, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Vivvi & Bloom™ is proud to partner with Newborns In Need, a charity that provides essential supplies to parents and babies who need it most. A little support goes a long way. A little love lifts us all up. And a little bit of care and compassion builds a community that is as vision-driven as it is resilient.

Thank you to all the wonderful Teachers, Students and Families of Wilmore Crossing Academy for partnering with our Newborns In Need Bluegrass KY Chapter - within just 3 days they made an overwhelming response of love and compassion for our fellow Kentuckians affected by the Dec 10th & 11th Tornados!! ❤️⚡️❤️

Back Story:
The very next day (Friday) after our 3 day Donation Drive Jeff, our kids Ian & Isabelle who are proud WCA Students, and I delivered these supplies to our good friends Staci Dean of Danville Christian Academy who was coordinating their efforts. Staci is the wife of our good friend James Eric Dean who’s in leadership at the National Guard. When I heard the National Guard was setting up facilities at the Mayfield Fairgrounds I knew I had to reach out to Eric & Staci to get the most updated information because in these types of emergency situations the circumstances change quick and often as the response becomes more coordinated - and so it does help having good friends with “boots on the ground” information! Thank you Eric and Staci for again being faithful friends and directing the way, and for being First Responder Heroes! Prayers and blessings for all the First Responders, Recovery Teams, Displaced Families and especially to their perished Loved Ones. ❤️⚡️❤️

We are so honored to partner with Wilmore Crossing Academy for a collection drive to help the victims of the devastated tornado areas. ❤️⚡️❤️ Please feel free to drop off supplies Tues, Wed, Thursday from 9:30am to 4pm. Thank you!

On December 12th, the very day after the tornados ripped through the heart of our nation, my good friend and colleague Dawnshelle Wold of Wilmore Crossing Academy made this announcement:

Good evening,

I hope this email finds you all well. Sadly, not everyone in Kentucky is tonight. The tornadoes that ripped through the state have left many devastated without loved ones, homes, or a workplace. Wilmore Crossing Academy would like to partner with Newborns in Need - Bluegrass KY chapter by bringing in donations of baby supplies to be sent to the hardest hit areas of the state. Here is something tangible we can provide to others who have lost so much just before Christmas. Ms. Joanne is the Director of this chapter and has requested the following:

baby diapers
baby wipes
baby diaper rash cream
baby formula
baby bottles
baby blankets
baby clothes
baby hats
Pacifiers
baby toys/ rattles/ teethers

Donations are tax deductible and can be brought to the school this week. Let's join forces to love and help our neighbors in need.
