When crises and challenges would arise, Alltech founder Dr. Pearse Lyons would gently remind our team that “A leader must never panic.” Instead, a leader responds with clarity, confidence and compassionate action.

His commitment to serving others who are experiencing challenges inspired the Pearse Lyons ACE Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports the philanthropic work of Alltech and the Lyons family.

The mission of the Pearse Lyons ACE Foundation is built on a simple belief: making a difference in the lives of others.

Each year on Aug. 3, we celebrate Pearse’s birthday and Make a Difference Day at Alltech, serving as a global recognition of the power each of us has to create positive change.

From supporting more than 1,200 children in Haitian schools and rebuilding classrooms in the Philippines to mentoring orphaned children in Mexico and empowering survivors of intimate partner abuse in Kentucky, the Pearse Lyons ACE Foundation shows up where it matters most.

Make a Difference Day reminds us that impact does not always begin when it is expected. Sometimes, it begins by simply showing up — and truly listening.
Because when a community is in need, we all have a role to play.

When Hurricane Helene tore through North Carolina's Broad River Valley, it destroyed homes, washed out roads and severed supply chains. More than a year later, the region is still recovering.

After traveling to the area multiple times in 2025 to help with debris removal and supply delivery, Alltech volunteers saw the opportunity to help heal the land and provide needed nutrition through community gardens.

With support from the Pearse Lyons ACE Foundation, volunteers established community gardens that yielded over 3,000 pounds of fresh produce from 1.5 acres in 2025. That harvest was distributed through local food banks, community kitchens and free pick-up points in public spaces.

This year, we're expanding to 8–10 acres. New additions will include pollinator plantings and a biochar kiln.

Those who join or make a donation to the 2026K Charitable Challenge between now and May 31 will earn the Community Garden badge and +250 bonus points.

The storm may be over, but the recovery work isn’t. Let’s continue to grow this project together.

Meet Finn!

Finn is an 8-week-old pup from Silver Charm's first litter, and he just moved in with his volunteer raiser outside of Black Mountain, NC.

In these early weeks, socialization and exploration are a key part of a puppy's development. Trainers help build their natural curiosity while teaching them to stay calm and non-reactive in stressful or overstimulating situations. These are essential skills for a future service dog.

When Hurricane Helene devastated Black Mountain and the surrounding communities, we saw the lasting toll on first responders — many of them volunteers.

Conversations with community members and first responders in the region became the catalyst for the Silver Charm project. Our goal is to train and match service dogs with the people who need them most: first responders, veterans, survivors of abuse and pediatric cancer patients.

Be on the lookout for more updates on these future heroes!

In 2025, Eli Sloan, the son of our North America Operations Manager, Chris Sloan, became unexpectedly ill with a form of kidney cancer. Last week, we received the heartbreaking news that Eli passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

Inspired by Eli’s passion for life and love for others, the Sloan family has launched the fund. Proceeds will support scholarships at local Lexington schools Eli attended and organizations across Central Kentucky that were meaningful to Eli and his family.

Through the fund, we celebrate Eli’s life and help other young people thrive.

Contributions can be made through the Pearse Lyons ACE Foundation website by selecting “Live Like Eli” from the “I’d like to support” dropdown in the donation form, or through the 2026K Charitable Challenge.

Those who join — or make a donation to — the 2026K Charitable Challenge between now and April 30 will earn the Live Like Eli badge and +250 bonus points. Funds raised during this period will be dedicated to the fund.

“Do what makes your heart sing.”

It was more than advice from our founder, Dr. Pearse Lyons — it was a way of life.

For more than two decades, the Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition has helped young artists pursue their passion, step onto the stage and find their voice. In a world where arts funding is becoming more scarce, this program is a reminder that talent deserves opportunity — and dreams deserve support.

From nervous first notes to standing ovations, these students embody courage, discipline and joy. And joy is powerful. It fuels excellence. It sustains purpose. It changes lives.
