From parades honoring veterans to Field of Valor flag displays honoring fallen servicemen and women, to honoring fallen first responders and celebrating 250 years of freedom, Niceville Exchange Club honors our American flag by flying it as a symbol of all we hold dear, of the service and sacrifice of our armed forces and first responders. Americanism, one of National Exchange Clubs primary areas of impact, isnโ€™t limited to Flag Day alone but today we recognize the importance of this American symbol of pride, resilience and unity.

Proud to have provided flags for the stage at the America 250 Gala this weekend. This was our way of showing our appreciation to the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution for their generous donation to the Niceville Exchange Club to replace flags after last yearโ€™s Field of Valor.

If you are able to spend a little extra to help the children at Children in Crisis, Inc. Florida, here's an easy way to do it! Every penny will go to something tangible to make their summer better.

โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŽ Summer Pantry Alert! ๐ŸŽโ˜€๏ธ

School may be out for the summer, but our children's appetites certainly aren't! With all of our kiddos home throughout the day, our pantry supplies are being used much faster than usual, and we could use a little help from our amazing community.

Our foster families are working hard to keep growing kids fed, happy, and healthy, and donations of pantry staples can make a huge difference. Items like granola bars, cereal, juice boxes, crackers, easy meal options, and other kid-friendly snacks are always appreciated.

Ryan Prince, Okaloosa County Emergency Management Chief, gave us some great tips for hurricane preparedness at our Tuesday, June 9 meeting! Here's just a few of the takeaways from his visit:
๐ŸŒ€Being prepared means having a plan, for yourself, for your neighbors.
๐ŸŒ€Watch trusted news sources for weather updates: local news, The Weather Channel, the National Hurricane Center.
๐ŸŒ€Evacuate when you are urged to do so. Don't wait until it's too late! Group up with others. Help your neighbor if you can.
๐ŸŒ€When you evacuate, check out AirBNB.org, and if you have a large group, it's sometimes easier and cheaper than trying to get a hotel room.
๐ŸŒ€If you own property and are having work done during hurricane season, have a clause added to your work agreement that contractors will pick up material, including scaffolding, if a storm is approaching. Construction debris can cause more damage.
๐ŸŒ€Take photos before a store of your home, and photos and videos after a storm if you have damage.
๐ŸŒ€Have homeowners insurance. Make sure you are insured to the level you'll need.
๐ŸŒ€Visit myokaloosa.com for information, including flood plain maps on their GIS pages if your insurance requires it.
๐ŸŒ€Join the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) if you want to help your community.
