On Labor Day, seven of our NBSA 420 and Laser sailors were out on the Lightning and Atlantic race courses, many hosted on boats owned by NianticBayYC sailors.

As the summer season comes to an (unofficial) close, we want to thank NBYC again for an amazing season of fostering the love of sailing in our young sailors. All season long you have helped these kids, on boats big and small, in so many ways. You’ve invited them on your boats, brought them along to important regattas, helped with repairs (major and minor), taught them new skills (“Welding with Ward”, anyone?), and given them an Attaboy/Attagirl when you read about their achievements on the water. Thank you for supporting the kids so that they can’t wait to come back, and for growing the next generation of sailors that will keep NBYC the magical place that it is.

Kudos to .norris.18 , Jackson Douton , Kennedy Nemec , Olivia Murin , Sam Driesch , .clan3280 , and Mal Haylon for getting out there. Keep it up, and see you next year!

Big thanks to Katie Norris on photo duty yesterday!

Congratulations to Niantic Bay Sailing Academy sailors Kennedy Nemec and Olivia Murin for competing in the Vineyard Race over the holiday weekend. Oakcliff Sailing’s Farr 40 Blue (Olivia) crossed the finish at 33 hours, 37 minutes elapsed time to achieve 3rd place in their division with Oakcliff Sailing’s Farr 40 Red (Kennedy) finishing in 4th at 34 hours, 15 minutes elapsed time. The sailors report they loved seeing sunset and sunrise, the teamwork and dedication put in during the race, and the lively awards party at Stamford Yacht Club . They had less nice things to say about the black flies and lack of wind in Gardiner’s Bay on Saturday midday. 🤣🪰

BIG thank you to the Niantic Bay Sailing Academy sailors (Carlie Burke, Olivia Murin, Sam Dreisch, and Kennedy Nemec) who got up extra early on their day off school to deliver the MudRatz Sailing Team after dark Figaro 2 from Stonington to Niantic. These kids timed it just right and were able to hop off the Figaro and onto other boats at 1p for their respective NBYC holiday series races. Kids on boats - it’s what we do!

If you have a sailor that wants to try out offshore racing this fall, head to MudRatz.org to check out the After Dark program. Sailing out of Niantic this season! 🎉
