We don't want this to get lost in the celebrations of Pride, so we are adding one more thing to celebrate.....

Congratulations to Katarina Pattison from Cassadaga High School for winning the Jean Hopkins Memorial Scholarship for 2026!

Katarina has been deeply involved at her high school in all things LGBTQ+. They were one of the first members of their school's GSA - as a middle schooler. They fought to be allowed in the group ahead of their high school term and won. Since then they were seen as an example in their school's q***r community. Katarina will attend the Fashion Institute of Technology.

"I am forever grateful for Niagara Pride's helpfulness with continuing my higher education. With this scholarship, I will seek high education in the field of graphic design in New York City. Living by one of my favourite quotes - 'Don't dream it, be it.'"

Congratulations Katarina! We can't wait to see what you do next!

Juneteenth marks our country’s second independence day. Today many will celebrate freedom, resilience, and liberation. Although it has long been celebrated in the African American community, this monumental event remains largely unknown to most Americans. So if you are looking for education today, we recommend our neighbors at the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center (825 Depot Avenue West Niagara Falls, NY 14305). For thousands of freedom seekers, Niagara Falls served as the final frontier between a land of enslavement and a new life in Canada. In honour of Juneteethn, yhey are offering their award-winning Freedom Conversation Tours every hour, on the hour from 10am-3pm. Take some time to learn history today!
