We are saddened to learn of the passing of our long time volunteer and former Holy Trinity parishioner Mary Ann Zimmerman. Mary Ann and her brother Stanley Slominski were with us when we started Heavenly Threads 716 Community Thrift Store in 2011 and volunteered with us for many years. She will truly be missed.

Rest in peace Mary Ann. 🙏

YouthWorks Week 8: Students were from CT and PA. They finished up projects outside, fixed a light on the church and school, helped to haul away metals and broken appliances and put together 4 cabinets that were donated to us for our Military Room memorabilia. And we had perfect weather for Thursday’s final cookout! Thank you Dr. Dave Taylor for being our grilling partner. You cooked those Salen hotdogs to perfection!

A heartfelt thank you to Jenna, Allie, and Angie for ALL you did to make this summer work so smoothly. We cannot forget the rest of the YW staff that came in to help as well. It was an amazing 8 weeks!

Blessings to all of the young men, women and their leaders for serving in our community and especially here at Historic Holy Trinity!

YouthWorks Week 7!

Another week with amazing students from Iowa and Pennsylvania. The grounds look fabulous!! (Now if we could stop the weeds from growing back as quickly as.) 😂

Since 2012, Historic Holy Trinity has partnered with YouthWorks every summer. Over this time, I have had the most wonderful opportunity to meet amazing young men and women, along with their adult leaders for a brief moment; a dot on our lifetime. They go back home and I can only hope to make a brief yet positive impact to help them nurture and grow in their faith, for their love of God and love in helping others. More often than not, I do not know that impact. Today a dot connected and I am compelled to share what happened. 🥰

Catching up on organizational stuff at the complex…paperwork, emails, etc., I saw fire truck pull up in front of the church. Concerned, I went out to see what happened and make sure the church was okay. Around that same time a car drove by, turned around and I was approached by a man who said he wanted to take a picture of the church. We began talking and I learned that his son had been in Niagara Falls on a YouthWorks trip last year (2025). Pastor Jonathan had told his father that he and his youth served with us and that he (his dad) should see the church when he learned that his dad would be in Niagara Falls. Of course I open the doors to give John a tour inside.

It is times like this, which I call “God moments” are what help keep me grounded in knowing that what I do for Historic HolyTrinity does make a positive difference. I thank God for giving me a sense of curiosity 😂 and for being in the absolute right place when I needed to be. A heartfelt thank you to John for driving by that very moment and to his son Pastor Jonathan for remembering his visit to Historic Holy Trinity last summer and the impact it made. My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude. Marg

As for the initial reason I was drawn to go outside today… Please pray for 92 year-old woman who needed medical attention.

YouthWorks Week 6–where is the summer going? It seems like just yesterday we started and now we are down to the last two weeks!

What can we say, though? We have been blessed with amazing young men and women each week. This week was no different! Even with the weather concerns of smoke from the Canadian fires, the students worked hard when we could be outside. Yes, we took lots of water and shade breaks, moved inside when it was not conducive to being outdoors.

Look at how great the area on side of the garage has been transformed! While one of the students had welding experience and wanted to permanently fix the fence, he did the next best thing and found materials to keep it together. 😊 And a special project that has been on our radar for some time was accomplished this week. As part of the complex’s history, several students cleaned and set up a room in the basement of the church to represent what it may have looked like as a bomb shelter back in the day! Yes, we still have many barrels of water!

We are truly blessed!! Thank you YouthWorks!!

YouthWorks Week 5!

The students and their leaders rocked another week out of the park!

Edging to make it easier to mow the lawn, never ending weeding, more mulch laid down, cutting down dead branches in an evergreen, and painting windows that haven’t seen paint in over 17 years. And then to top it off, Gunner was amazing in repairing several windows in the attic of the Retreat Center (aka former convent). So skilled, he replicated a missing piece of wood from the window.

Unfortunately it rained during Thursday’s cookout so no pictures were taken as Marg and Dave were grilling outside (covered by a tent) while the entire group ate in the lower level the school. 🤷‍♀️ Looking forward to what will be accomplished this week.
