In recent news, L714 was lucky enough to team up with Legislator and Firefighter Sam Farruggia, the Niagara County Department of Health, and American Red Cross for the "Sound the Alarm" home fire safety initiative. The team went door-to-door offering free installation of smoke detectors. This program is a free program offered by Healthy Neighborhoods year round to help the community maintain fire safety in their homes. Busy day yesterday and into last night for Niagara Falls Fire Department, with crews working three separate incidents at the same time.

The first incident occurred around 9:30 p.m., when a 50-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in the 8100 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard while attempting to cross the roadway well before the crosswalk.

While crews were still working at that scene, approximately 15 minutes later, Niagara Falls firefighters were dispatched to 354 12th Street for a residential structure fire.

A short time later, crews were dispatched to the 1300 block alley between Pierce and Willow Avenue for a vehicle fire next to a structure.

With multiple incidents happening simultaneously, Niagara Falls firefighters received assistance from the Niagara Falls Police Department, New York State Police, New York State Park Police, Town of Niagara Police Department, and AMR.

A busy night that once again highlights the importance of mutual aid and the teamwork between local public safety agencies. We appreciate everyone who responded and worked together to keep the community safe.
