Niagara Beautification Commission

Niagara Beautification Commission Volunteers working for a beautiful Niagara Falls. Local civic leader, Edward F. Joseph, was recruited as chairman of NBC - a position he held for twelve years.

The Niagara Beautification Commission (NBC) was organized on August 29, 1978 to address concerns about beautification in the downtown area of the City of Niagara Falls, NY. The goal of the Commission was to recruit volunteers such as residents, business leaders, civic organizations and other interested people to work with the City of Niagara Falls

Key areas to be addressed included a plan for the

maintenance of the downtown mall area, the replacement of sidewalk trash receptacles throughout the city, cleanup of public parking areas, and improved road signage. Today the focus of NBC is within the city limits of Niagara Falls, NY.

Today, our Harriet Tubman Badass Women of Niagara beer made a fitting visit to the Harriet Tubman Home in Auburn, NY. Auburn also has a connection to another Badass Woman of Niagara: Annie Edson Taylor, the first person to survive a trip over Niagara Falls in a barrel, was born there.

The new Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad NY Byway will further connect our communities, linking Auburn and Niagara Falls through the powerful stories of Harriet Tubman, the Underground Railroad and the pursuit of freedom.

Cheers to that! 🍻
